Activity Time
Vocabulary: pencil, crayon, coloured pencil, marker, eraser, ruler, glue, scissors, book, paper, board, bin, chair, table, desk, door, lights, clock, window, CD player, pen, window, door, clock, light, fan, board Sentence structure(s): Question What is it? Response It is a (pencil) Question What colour is the (crayon)? Response The crayon is (blue). Question Where is the (eraser)? Repsonse The eraser is (under the chair). Song(s): The Shimmy Shake (The Wiggles) Activities: Classroom object activity page: Students will complete an activity page focusing on colours and the classroom objects. They will be asked to colour certain objects certain colours. Games: Where is it? Using classroom objects and the review of prepositions students will be asked to find different classroom objects and place them in different spots around the classroom. For example, where is the glue? Put the glue on the table. Pass the bag: students will form a circle and sit down. A bag full of classroom objects will be passed around the circle to music. When the music stops the student with the bag has to take out the object and tell the class what it is.
Phonics
Review This week in phonics we will review
sss, aaa, ttt, iii, nnn, ppp. Blending the first six sounds of the Jolly Phonics program has proved to be a great success. We will be reviewing the following blended sounds: as, an, ap, at, in, is, ip, it. Students will always
New (letters/sounds/vocabulary)
This week we will begin blending the second six sounds of the Jolly Phonics program. Letter sounds include: ccc/kkk, eee, hhh, rrr, mmm, ddd. The following are the two letter blended sounds we will be learning in preparation for reading three letter words. These are not necessarily words, but it gets students used to blending. When we add three letter words, it will be much easier for them. Blends include: ke, he, re, me, de.
have a fresh reminder of all two letter blend sounds as we have started putting up our word wall of all of the words we can sound out.
Writing Practice
We will continue to practice writing in our writing books. This week we will learn how to form the letter g correctly. We will practice writing the letter g by tracing dot to dot pages in the writing book.
