Germany is No. 1 in conducting international trade fairs. Of the leading global trade fairs of the individual sectors, around two-thirds are held in Germany. Annually around 150 international trade fairs with around 160,000 exhibitors and 100 lakhs visitors are organized. More than half Ramakrishna Dasari of the exhibitors come from abroad, of this one-third are from countries outside Europe. Chairman Of the visitors, almost one-fifth come from abroad, of this total about 30% from overseas. IEI Vijayawada Local Center Around 3 crore square feet of air-conditioned hall space is available at 23 German exhibition centers. Three of the five largest exhibition centers in the world are located in Germany. For the German companies trade fairs are most important instruments in business-to-business communication. In total exhibitors and visitors spend around 10 billion Euro a year. The macroeconomic production effects reach 23 billion Euro. Around 250,000 jobs are secured through the organization of trade fairs. In addition, there is a dense network of regional trade and consumer exhibitions, which represent an important supplement to the international trade fairs, in this over 50,000 exhibitors and 70 lakh visitors are brought together. Trade fairs and exhibitions thus offer a platform for well over 200,000 exhibitors as well as 160 to 180 lakh visitors. Furthermore, over 10,000 congresses and conferences are held annually in the business-to-business sector. These are main fuel for knowing about various products and technologies. Even youth has access to all these technologies, give direction and interest toward various carrier opportunities. These international trade fairs are conducted based on domain category. For example CEBIT is no.1 Information communication technology trade fair in the world organized in Hannover every year during March first week. Industries will introduce their new products in this trade fair. Over 5000 exhibitors and more than 5 lakh visitors will participate in this event. Hannover fair grounds has 27 halls with around 53 lakhs square feet covered area. Local train facility is there from three directions, long distance rail station connected with high speed trains travel above 300 kmph. This fair ground has 50,000 car parking facility. Lakhs of people can enter or leave from fair ground in less then 15min.

BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN EUROPEAN UNION
DR. Ion Voicu Sucala Associate Professor, Management & Systems Engineering Department, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania
Dr. Ion Voicu Sucala shared his thoughts and experiences in a lecture meeting held on March 16, 2011 at the Dr. K. L. Rao Bhavan, Vijayawada Centre. The European Union (EU) is an economic and political union of 27 member states which are located primarily in Europe. The EU has developed a single market through a standardised system of laws which apply in all member states including the abolition of passport controls within the Schengen area. It ensures the free movement of people, goods, services, and capital, enacts legislation in justice and home affairs, and maintains common policies on trade. With a total population of over 500 million inhabitants,in 2010 the EU generated an estimated 26% (US$16.282 trillion) of the global economy.

Economy:
The EU has established a single market across the territory of all its members. A monetary union, the eurozone, using a single currency comprises 17 members states. In 2009 the EU generated an estimated 28% share (US$ 16.5 trillion) of the world's nominal GDP, making it the largest economy in the world. It is the largest exporter, the largest importerof goods and services, and the biggest trading partner to several large countries such as the United States, China and India. Of the top 500 largest corporations measured by revenue (Fortune Global 500 in 2010), 161 have their headquarters in the EU. In May 2007 unemployment in the EU stood at 7% while investment was at 21.4% of GDP, inflation at 2.2% and public deficit at -0.9% of GDP.

Education:
In education, Erasmus Programme, a university exchange programme which began in 1987 has supported international exchange opportunities for well over 1.5 million university and college students and has become a symbol of European student life. There are now similar programmes for school pupils and teachers, for trainees in vocational education and training and for adult learners in the Lifelong Learning Programme 20072013.

Environment:
In 2007, member states agreed that the EU is to use 20% renewable energy in the future and that it has to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in 2020 by at least 20% compared to 1990 levels. This includes measures that in 2020, 10% of the overall fuel quantity used by cars and trucks in EU 27 should be running on renewable energy such as biofuels. This is considered to be one of the important aspects for industrialised region to fight global warming.

Jagadish Chandra Bose, (30 November 1858 23 November 1937) was an Bengali polymath: a physicist, biologist, botanist, archaeologist, as well as an early writer of science fiction. He pioneered the investigation of radio and microwave optics, made very significant contributions to plant science, and laid the foundations of experimental science in the Indian subcontinent. IEEE named him one of the fathers of radio science. He is also considered the father of Bengali science fiction. He was the first person from the Indian subcontinent to receive a US patent, in 1904

Crescograph
A crescograph is a device for measuring growth in plants. It was invented in the early 20th cetury by Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose. The Bose crescograph uses a series of clockwork gears and a smoked glass plate to record the movement of the tip of a plant (or its roots) at magnifications of up to 10,000. Marks are made on the plate at intervals of a few seconds, demonstrating how the rate of growth varies under varying stimuli. Bose experimented with temperature, chemicals, gasses and electricity. A Bose inspired modern electronic Crescograph was designed and built by Randall Fontes to measure plant movement at Stanford Research Institute. The Electronic Crescograph plant movement detector is capable of measurements as small as 1/1,000,000 of an inch. The component which actually measures the movement is a differential transformer.

Global Warming & Climate Change

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century and its projected continuation. According to the 2007 Fourth Assessment Report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), global surface temperature increased 0.74 0.18 C (1.33 0.32 F) during the 20th century.

Green House Effect:

Sun is the major source of energy for earth. Solar radiation enters the atmosphere in the form of shortwave radiation and heats up the earth. Heated earth releases long wave radiation, this radiation is trapped by green house gasses like Carbon dioxide, methane nitrous oxide, hydro fluorocarbons..etc. Normally this is a good phenomenon because without green house gases earth would be colder than moon. In the recent decades human activities like usage of fossil fuels like coalpetrol, diesel..etc for the purpose of power, transportation is releasing huge amount of green house gases. This increased quantity of green house gases is increasing the green house effect, thus increasing the global atmospheric temperature which is referred as global warming.

Increase global temperatures are causing changes in climate which are resulting in:
1. Glacier Melts 2. Sea Level Rises 3. Intensified cyclones 4. Floods 5. Droughts 6. Vector Born Diseases

Glacier Melts:
1. Increase air temperature are causing glaciers melts, in north pole, south pole, Green Lands,himalayas..etc. 2. In India melting of glaciers in himalayas is going effect the river water resources of Ganga, Brahmaputra, and Yamuna.

Apri l - 2011

Figure: Surface temperature anomalies relative to 1951-1980 from surface air measurements at meteorological stations and ship and satelite SST measurements

Floods & Droughts:

Climate changes has resulted in uneven rains, as a result in some areas huge of rainfall is recorded while some other places are having very less or no rainfall. Heavy rainfall has already been observed in India. Heavy rain of 944 mm in 24 hrs at mumbai resulted in huge flooding. Similar problems are being observed in major cities. Increasing temperature is causing evaporation of water or moisture from the ground. Many areas all over the world are estimated to suffer due to unavailability of drinking water by 2035. India is going to be the worst hit areas, nearly 90% of Indian population is going to get effected by water scarcity.

Intensified cyclones:
Increase sea surface temperatures are going to increase the evaporation rate on the oceans as a result more amount of moisture is going to enter into atmosphere, thus increasing the the intensity of the cyclones. In recent decades is has been observed that, though the number of cyclonic activities are less but cyclone life time on the oceans has increased.

Sea Level rise:

1. Melting of ice in north and South Pole is causing sea water to increase. 2. Sea temperatures are also increasing as result sea water is expanding causing more sea level rise. 3. It is estimated that nearly 25 % Indian population is going to be effect due sea level rise of 1 meter.

IEI news
Vector Born Diseases:
Higher air temperatures are providing required breeding grounds for vector born diseases like, malaria, dengue...etc. We as humans need to think and act so as to save our planet earth from global warming. Globally, many countries have started their initiatives to decrease global warming. Developed nations like Germany are generating power using renewable energies like solar power, wind power..etc. Many of the old highly polluting industries has been closed. Green taxes are being collected from transportation generated pollution, normal vehicles are being replaced with electric vehicles, Bio-fuel based vehicles. Most the waste generated is being either recycled / reused.Scientists all around the world are doing research on new methodologies / technologies to decrease this global warming like fuel cells, CO2 sequestration, alternative fuels...etc. But as a normal human being we can do something which will help us and our environment.

Save Energy:
1. 1 Liter of petrol used releases 2.6 Kg of CO2 2. 1 Liter of diesel used releases 2.3 Kg of CO2 3. 1 Unit of power production will release 2 Kg of CO2 4. 1 unit of power saved is equal to 2 units of power produced 5. Think before you use your vehicles and electrical appliances.

Plant Trees:
Plant trees, as trees absorb CO2 from atmosphere. Each Tree will absorb nearly 80Kgs of CO2 in its life period
