AT&T PLANNING TO BRING 500 JOBS TO CHICAGO AND MOVE 2,500 THROUGHOUT SUBURBS IN CHICAGOLAND WORKPLACE TRANSFORMATION INITIATIVE
Wireless and wired internet-based technologies allow more work location mobility and flexibility Move to be complete by 2016 CHICAGO, August 6, 2013 As wireless and wired internet technologies allow more people the ability to work flexibly, AT&T today announced a Chicagoland Workplace Transformation initiative that will transition suburban-based jobs to different workplace locations, bringing about 500 jobs into downtown Chicago and moving about 2,500 jobs to locations in the Chicago suburbs, including Schaumburg, Lisle and Arlington Heights. This initiative is a transition of roughly 3,000 AT&T jobs from their current base in Hoffman Estates into different Chicago and suburban workplace locations. It is not part of a workforce reduction plan. The job transitions are scheduled to begin in June 2014 and AT&T expects it will be complete before the companys lease in Hoffman Estates expires in 2016. AT&T continues to invest in next-generation wired and wireless broadband networks in Illinois that allow workers to work flexibly. AT&T invested nearly $625 million in its Illinois wired and wireless networks in the first half of 2013. AT&T is transforming our work environment to allow greater flexibility for our workforce. Todays wired and wireless networks allow workers, including a growing number of AT&T employees and workers, flexibility in the way they work, said Paul La Schiazza, AT&T Illinois President. AT&T plans to bring

about 500 jobs to Chicago and 2,500 jobs to different office locations in the suburbs before 2016 as part of our transformation to a modern workplace environment. Roughly 2,000 AT&T employees and workers transitioning to Schaumburg and Lisle locations will benefit from shared office space seating arrangements, allowing for more flexibility in the way they work. Job transition numbers are based on current estimates. As AT&T evaluates all options, the final transition numbers are subject to change. Municipalities adding new AT&T Jobs AT&T employs more than 14,000 employees in the state.
