This event is a great time! Its virtually full contact golf as your competitors egg you on, sometimes in your backswing! Two-person teams alternate their shots while the high-scoring teams are eliminated on each hole until there are only three teams left. Out of those three teams, we will award a Win (1st Place), Place (2nd Place), and a Show (3rd Place). Serious golfers should leave their sensitive side at home for this event; we like to have fun!
This putting contest is a favorite among our residents. Test your putting skills on our ever changing 9-hole course and quench your thirst by sharing a keg of beer.

We are constantly told breakfast is the most important meal of the day and we should never skip. Science may have finally proven it to be true. According to research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, people who skipped breakfast even once per week had a twenty percent greater likelihood of developing Type 2 diabetes than those who ate breakfast every day. Data collected from more than 45,000 women over six years showed those who ate frequently (four or more times per day) but skipped breakfast had a greater risk for developing diabetes. Having a lower body mass index (BMI), whether or not a person ate breakfast, also seemed to help reduce diabetes risk. Skipping breakfast however, appeared to be even more harmful for those who are overweight. Additional research studying 29,000 men over a 16-year period found that those who skipped breakfast had a 21 percent higher risk for developing diabetes. Researchers guess that breakfast may play a role in holding blood sugar more stable over the course of a day. Other research showed higher insulin levels after missing breakfast, possibly leading, over time, to insulin resistance. In addition to diabetes risk, skipping breakfast can negatively affect mood, energy levels, and memory function until lunch or the first meal of the day. Bypassing breakfast has also been linked to abdominal weight gain, hypertension and metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is the existence, at the same time, of multiple conditions which can double heart attack risk. These conditions include: low HDL cholesterol, hypertension, high fasting blood glucose, and others. In addition to eating breakfast every day, other lifestyle practices can reduce risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. Both aerobic exercise and resistance training are critical to minimize insulin insensitivity. Avoid sugary soft drinks, candy and other highsugar foods. Maintain a healthy body weight. Eat a diet which consists primarily of lean meats and fresh fruits and vegetables. While scientists are still not totally sure of the mechanisms involved, a significant amount of long-term research with a large number of subjects shows eating breakfast helps stabilize blood sugar throughout the day. And, skipping breakfast can lead to development of Type 2 diabetes.
