School History: Students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades originally attended classes in the first frame school house in Affton, and moved into one of the four rooms in the McKenzie School building. Eighth grade students wishing to receive a diploma went to the county courthouse in Clayton to take four days of
exams. The first eighth grade class to graduate from Affton took place in 1922. In 1942, a junior high school was organized and held in the W.F. Gaunt School, and in 1959, Mackenzie Junior High School was built at 7550 Mackenzie Road. The name of the building changed to Mackenzie Middle
School in 1987, and was later renamed for Merrill J. Rogers, assistant principal and principal of Mackenzie Junior High School from 1966 to 1986. The Rogers Middle School Mission is: Respect & Responsibility Motivate Scholarship, Service, and Sustainability...the RMS way.

School History: The Affton School District has offered early childhood education programming since 1970, when it was located at Gotsch School and then at Mesnier School. In 1983, Affton partnered with the Lindbergh School District to offer Affton-Lindbergh Early Childhood housed at Concord School in the Lindbergh district. In 2006, Affton split from Lindbergh to partner with Special School District and the program moved to
the St. George School, located at the corner of Gravois Road and Heege Road. In 2012, the new Affton Early Childhood Center was opened at 9832 Reavis Road. The 19,000 square-foot building was rehabbed from an industrial complex into a vibrant learning space that features eight classrooms, diagnostic facilities, an indoor project room, a multipurpose play area and stage, outdoor play areas, a conference
room and offices for Parents As Teachers. Early childhood programming is offered for children ages 3 years to pre-kindergarten, and both half day and full day classes are offered as well as before and after care. Affton Early Childhoods mission is to teach and nurture childrens learning and social skills through play in a safe environment, as well as to support the needs of the families.
