Just a very short match programme this week as with all the cancellations only the Mens first team is playing today, and its away from Kelburn Park on our alternate pitch. Dont worry, the next programme with be a bumper one, we promise. Today we welcome Wainuiomata to the Wellington College artificial pitch. Its a rematch from the first game of the season when we came away with a 1-0 victory, thanks to a late goal from Calum Ross. It was a tough match, and Wainui had us under pressure at times in the match. flected out and then Rowe being set up in a one -on-one by Mwanza. Turner and Lahood needed to combine to clear a Seatoun corner, before University again attacked with Lahood and Lloyd setting up Kjartansson and then Kjartansson and central-midfielder Steve Davey combining to feed the ball on the ground into Rowe who battled with the Seatoun keeper near the goal-line. Mwanza was only able to get his chest onto a cross from the right from Rowe presenting an easy save, before Rowe almost got free in the box after a build up involving Lahood and substitute Mitch Bradley. Seatoun then launched a counter-attack, with a free-kick skewing just over the bar and one of their players soon after carving a swathe through the middle of the park but ultimately having the ball taken off his toes by Turner. University all but claimed the three points in the dying moments. Davey made space for himself in the right-hand side of the box but his cross-shot was saved by the keeper, Kjartansson had a cross-shot blocked and Davey had one final shot that went wide of the left upright.

they were a different proposition this time around. Keeping a very disciplined backline shape, they were hard to break down and then counter-attacked well. That said, we did create goal-scoring opportunities and will lament not taking advantage of those. Their goal was disappointing from the perspective of our failure to put in a decent challenger on the header and even then, Sean got his fingertips to it but ultimately could not keep it out. But again our lads showed good spirit. Seatoun definitely had the better of the early part of the second half and yet it was during this period that we managed to carve out our equaliser. Well done to the players who came down to us and gave their all with the Firsts not playing. Thank you also to the subs for each making a difference with what time they got on the park. Goss Spot
Capital 1: Seatoun 1-1 Gossies
Venue: Seatoun Park (2.30pm kick-off, June 15, 2013) A very large Seatoun Park allowed plenty of space to move the ball and this was utilised by both sides in what was a very open and end-to -end contest. Another bright start by the Gossies saw striker Daan Kjartansson unleash two early shots at goal, fellow striker Matt Rowe make a dangerous cut-back from the left and then left-midfielder Michael Lahood put in a corner from the right that had to be cleared off the Seatoun goal-line. ous corner from the right rebounded off a player on the six-yard line but went straight into keeper Sean Turners hands. Soon after Kjartansson came close to finding a teammate on the far post with a free-kick earned from a foul on Lahood, Seatoun broke up the other end of the park and duly opened the scoring. A long throw-in from the right was not adequately contested and an attacker headed into the far corner with Turner only able to palm into the side-netting.
