INTRODUCTION Social change is the necessity of any society. In India it is done through Public Interest Litigation. This project is an attempt to assess the impact of PIL over Indian Society. PIL today offers such a paradigm which locates the content of informal justice without the formal legal system. PIL had already moulded the state in to the instrument of socio-economic change. Social justice is the by-product of this transcends from the formal legal system.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY India is slowly emerging as the global power and the citizens of India are gradually becoming more aware about their legal rights and their power to bring a change in the society. Public interest litigation plays a very important role in helping people to bring a change in the society. The fact that PIL empowers a citizen to draw the attention of the court into matters which can affect a large section of the society interests me. Also PIL can help in bringing a positive change in the Indian society and the Indian legal system.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY To refer to the article Managing Public Interest Litigation written by Jus R.K. Abichandani To refer to the latest and some landmark cases of PIL to get a detailed insight to it To read law commission reports to have a viewpoint about the overall impact of PIL

HYPOTHESIS In this project we would examine the hypothesis that how PIL has changed the legal system in our country and how its inclusion has its own bad impact.

TENTATIVE CHAPTERISATION Public Interest Litigation: Introduction Merits and Demerits of PIL PIL in India Some Landmark cases in PIL Present scenario in PIL Conclusion

CONCEPTUALISATION The concept of this project is to show what Public Interest Litigation is, how it has evolved and how it is now been misused by the people. The project aims to highlight these issues and bring it to an appropriate conclusion.

CONCLUSION The project would reach its appropriate conclusion and the same would be elaborated upon ij detail in the final draft of the project
