Required reading

Energy-efficiency rebates for existing residential multifamily dwellings and multifamily common areas
Cash rebates are available for the installation of qualified energy-efficiency products in apartment dwelling units and in the common areas of apartment and condominium complexes, and common areas of mobile home parks. Property Owners (and Property Managers, as Authorized Agents for Property Owners) of existing residential multifamily complexes with two or more dwelling units may qualify. Product offerings and rebate amounts are subject to change during the program term.

Important steps for applying

1. Read the Terms and Conditions found in the Rebate Application Package. Funding is limited. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. All measures require a reservation prior to purchase and installation. Please call San Diego Gas & Electric at 1-800-644-6133 or visit our website at sdge.com/multifamily to make sure rebate applications are still being accepted and funds are still available for the products you are installing before submitting your application. This program shall at all times be subject to change or termination without prior notice.

2. All products require a reservation before a Rebate Application can be submitted. Refer to the How to Reserve section (pg 2) to place a reservation. 3. Purchase and install the energy-efficiency products yourself or contract for the installation of the qualified product(s). All products must meet the specifications listed in the application. 4. All qualified products must be purchased and installed between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2013. However, please be aware that these purchases and installation periods will end earlier if funds are depleted. All Applications and Rebate forms must be postmarked by January 15, 2014 to be considered eligible for a rebate. 5. Only after the products are completely installed, submit the Application and applicable Rebate forms and a copy of the approved reservation form. Mail the completed forms along with copies of your paid itemized sales receipt(s), paid contractor invoice, or your paid Home Improvement Contract (HIC), with manufacturer name(s), model number(s), square footage printed on proof-of-purchase document and any other required documentation to: San Diego Gas & Electric Multifamily Rebate Program P.O. Box 129016 San Diego, CA 92112-9016 6. For information and processing regarding Boiler and Central Water Heater Products please proceed to pg. 12.

Important Program Information

1. SDG&E may conduct an inspection to verify the energy-efficiency product(s) eligibility and installation prior to payment of rebate. Exception: All boiler and central water heater control installations are 100% inspected before and after installation.

2. Keep a copy of all submitted documents including: completed Application form, completed Rebate forms, and proof of payment (i.e. paid itemized sales receipt(s), paid contractor invoice, or paid HIC) prior to submitting for a rebate. 3. A rebate check for qualified product(s) is generally mailed 68 weeks after SDG&E receives and approves a completed Application including all required documentation unless Application is selected for verification, which may require additional time. Incomplete or incorrect Applications cannot be processed and the customer will be notified. Resubmitted Applications received will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are depleted. 4. You will not receive energy-efficiency rebates for the same product, or for the replacement of a product, installed within the last three years from more than one California Investor-Owned Utility participating in this program or other third-party programs offering rebates, financing and other incentives, funded with California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Public Goods Charge funds. Steps to reserve rebate funds

Please contact SDG&E at 1-800-644-6133 to inquire if reservations are still available and if your product is still eligible for rebate. 3. Complete and sign the Multifamily Energy Efficiency Product Rebate Reservation form, and applicable Product Rebate form and e-mail to MultiFamProgram@semprautilities.com, fax to 866-420-1128, or mail to: San Diego Gas & Electric Multifamily Rebate Program P.O. Box 129016 San Diego, CA 92112-9016 4. Your reservation is valid for 45 calendar days beginning on the date a reservation confirmation is faxed or emailed to you by SDG&E. The reserved product(s) must be purchased, installed, and the completed original Application Package must be received by SDG&E no later than close of business on the 45th calendar day following the date the reservation confirmation was faxed or e-mailed to you. 5. Failure to submit a complete Application Package by the 45th calendar day will result in forfeiture of the reservation and a new reservation will be required.

2013 MULTIFAMILY ENERGY-EFFICIENCY REBATE PROGRAM

Terms and Conditions

Check one: I am the Property Owner

1.

I am the Property Manager, as Authorized Agent for Property Owner

I understand that a) Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis while funding is available or until discontinued by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and must be postmarked on or before January 15, 2014 to be considered eligible for a rebate and b) qualified products must be purchased and installed between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2013. I understand that these purchase and install periods will end earlier if funds are depleted and this program shall at all times be subject to change or termination without prior notice. I am a Property Owner/Property Manager, as Authorized Agent for Property Owner, of a residential multifamily dwelling with an active meter(s) served by SDG&E. I understand that I am only eligible to receive rebates for products that correspond directly to the type service (e.g., natural gas or electric distribution) for which my residential multifamily dwelling currently receives service from SDG&E. Multifamily dwellings are defined as residential apartments, homeowners associations and/or mobile home parks with two or more units. The dwelling units must be fully constructed and occupied and each must have its own kitchen and bathroom. New construction does not qualify. I certify that the qualified energy-efficiency products were purchased and completely installed between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2013. These products are for use in my residential multifamily dwelling or common area. I have submitted one or more of the following required documents establishing proof-of-purchase for the products applied for in this Application: a) paid itemized sales receipt(s), b) paid contractor invoice, or c) paid Home Improvement Contract (HIC). These documents must contain manufacturer name(s), model number(s), square footage and any other required documentation. I understand that the Apartment and Common Area Products Location form must account for all product quantities, by address, that match the invoices/receipt quantities submitted for rebate. I certify that all energy-efficiency products were purchased new and I understand that used, rebuilt, resale, rented or leased, won as prizes, provided by insurance companies, or new parts installed in existing products do not qualify. I understand rebates will only be paid for products that meet the program specifications described on the Rebate Products forms and related Specifications sheets. I understand that under certain circumstances incentives may be taxable and, if greater than $600, may be reported to the IRS unless I am exempt from reporting. SDG&E may report my rebate payment to me on IRS Form 1099 unless I have checked corporation or exempt from reporting tax status. I understand that I should consult my tax advisor concerning the taxability of rebates. SDG&E is not responsible for any taxes that may be imposed as a result of my receipt of this rebate. Under no circumstances will rebates exceed 100% of the purchase price of the item. Purchase price includes material cost plus installation labor. Customers who self-install may not charge installation labor. This charge applies to vendors only. Sales taxes and freight (shipping) are not included in the items purchase price. I understand the qualified product(s) may be self-installed, installed by a contractor, manufacturer, or an appliance dealer. All uses herein of the words install, installation or similar phrases shall mean complete installation such that the subject products are fully functional. I understand and agree that the choice of the energy-efficiency product(s), selection of contractor, manufacturer, or dealer, purchase of materials, work performed, and the payment thereof, are my sole responsibilities. I waive any and all claims against SDG&E, its parent company, its directors, officers, employees and authorized agents, and will indemnify SDG&E for any claims arising out of or relating to the installation and/or use of the energy-efficiency product(s) referred to in this Application. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT SDG&E MAKES NO WARRANTY, WHETHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE, USE, OR APPLICATION OF THE PRODUCT(S) REGARDING MANUFACTURERS, DEALERS, MATERIALS, AND WORKMANSHIP. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, none of such parties shall be liable for any type of damages, whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, exemplary, reliance, punitive or special damages, including damages for loss of use, regardless of the form of action, whether in contract, indemnity, warranty, strict liability or tort, including negligence of any kind. I am responsible for meeting all program requirements and complying with my state/county/city governments, property owner and/or homeowners association requirements (if any) in my area regarding local conditions, restrictions, codes, ordinances, rules, and regulations pertaining to all installations. I further understand that it is my sole responsibility to ensure all rebated products are installed as per all manufacturers specifications. I agree that SDG&E has no liability whatsoever concerning the quality, safety or installation of the energy-efficiency product, including their fitness, workmanship, or any other matter. I agree to allow an SDG&E representative and/or California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) representative reasonable access to verify the installed products. I agree to this inspection to be eligible to participate in the program and receive a rebate for the qualified product. I understand this inspection is for the purpose of determining that the installed product meets all program requirements. I understand SDG&E is not responsible for items lost or destroyed in transit. I understand that I cannot receive energy-efficiency rebates for the same product, or for the replacement of a product, installed within the last three (3) years, from more than one California Investor-Owned Utility participating in this program or other third-party programs offering rebates, financing and other incentives funded with CPUC Public Goods Charge funds. Property Owner/Property Manager, as Authorized agent for Property Owner: your signature is required if the rebate check is to be made payable to another individual or entity. Make sure to obtain the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) Reference Number for the equipment installed by your contractor and enter it where indicated on the Rebate form. To qualify for a rebate: All central heat pumps must be listed by the ARI. Both the condenser and the evaporative coil must be new and replaced at the time of installation. Both the Seasonal Energy-Efficiency Ratio (SEER) and Energy-Efficiency Ratio (EER) must meet the specifications for the appropriate tier level. The Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV) can be installed at the factory or by a contractor. There are two types of central heat pumps split system and packaged unit. The condenser and coil are separate in a split system central heat pump, but for rebate purposes, are considered one unit. The package unit has the condenser and evaporative coil in one unit. SEER and EER can generally be found on the specification sheet provided by the manufacturer. Heat pumps are a little different in that they are generally used in all electric homes and they provide both cooling and heating. In addition to SEER and EER ratings, the heat pump has a Heating Season Performance Factor (HSPF), which indicates the efficiency of the heating side of the heat pump. Additionally, package system air-conditioners must have a factory installed TXV. SEER and EER can generally be found on the specification sheet provided by the manufacturer. Your C-20 contractor will be able to assist you in choosing the qualified equipment. Make and model number must be included with a copy of your invoice or receipt.
