The New Simple in Internet Connectivity

Integrated Ka/Ku-Band Broadband Hub System

While multi-spot beam Ka/Ku satellite networks mean increased throughput and affordability for end users, they can also create more complexity for network operators when it comes to managing multiple services and multiple gateways. To dramatically simplify your network operations, Gilat Satellite Networks has drawn on 25 years of broadband satellite communications to introduce the SkyEdge II-c. This high performance dynamo integrates in a compact chassis all network services including Fair Use System, QoS, Web acceleration, Compression, Encryption and IP services - and uses a single Network Management System to control all hub elements at all gateways and all VSATs. SkyEdge II-c system supports large scale broadband services for both consumer and enterprise applications, including fast web browsing, high-speed trunking, video streaming, IPTV, VoIP and other bandwidth-intensive services.
Compact, integrated SkyEdge II-c hub

Benefits
Highly scalable Ka/Ku system supporting multi-spot beam, multi-gateway satellite architecture Support for next generation super-fast broadband services Multi service architecture supporting Virtual Network Operators (VNO), service wholesalers, direct and resell business models Integrated and redundant hub chassis system includes ALL network services Centralized TotalNMS manages any number of beams from the Network Operation Center (NOC)

Flexible Business Models for ISP; VNO and Reseller

In addition to reseller and direct service models where the network operator defines the services, SkyEdge II-c supports wholesale service acquisition models in which ISPs can purchase bulk capacity on all or some of the beams and define their own services. For wholesale models, ISPs or VNOs have full control of service parameters such as speeds, usage quotas, oversubscriptions and QoS and have detailed monitoring capabilities such as CPE status, bandwidth usage and RF levels. Using TotalNMS, the ISPs and VNOs can manage their own services directly and independently particularly important for satellites that cover multiple countries which may need different business models.

Optimizing CAPEX and OPEX

The systems scalable architecture requires a minimal initial investment to light up user beams, later expanding as demand grows. Full service automation lets you easily scale up by installing VSATs and activating service without a single phone call. Do-It-Yourself VSAT installation accelerates penetration in markets with greater sensitivity to initial costs and reduces the need for equipment subsidies. The centralized management system and highly redundant integrated hub baseband architecture, facilitates support for unmanned gateway operations.

Rich Feature Set

The SkyEdge II-c system employs sophisticated features and capabilities that help you deliver competitive services while simplifying your network operations: Robust Bi-directional QoS - SkyEdge II-c QoS is embedded in the platform and supports various rate bundles per site, Wholesale (ISP/NVO level) CIR/MIR bundles, DiffServ, and VoIP call admission to ensure voice and video quality Fair Use System (FUS) - usage based system delivering flexible and competitive Service Level Agreements (SLAs) including: configurable usage plans per network and per ISP/VNO, free time zones allowing plan hour exclusion, top-up options with automatic redirection to a walled garden, fair allocation of bandwidth based on network congestion, customer priority and usage profile Multi-tiered acceleration enables fast web surfing and application response using TCP Acceleration, HTTP acceleration (DNS Caching, Pre-fetching, Compression & Optimization), Payload and IP Header compression Rich IP Stack - SkyEdge II-c VSATs are full featured IP routers supporting enhanced IP routing features such as IPv4, IPv6, DHCP, NAT/PAT, IGMPv3, DiffServ, SIP eliminating the need for an external router ISP Management Interface - supports wholesale service models - Machine to Machine and optional secure GUI interface to define SLAs (MIR/CIR), monitor VSAT status, and support service activation and provisioning completely independent from the satellite operator. Advanced Usagebased billing system is implemented per ISP requirements Enhanced System Security - provides secure service to the service provider and to end-users with over-the-air HW-based AES-256 encryption, the system also employs X.509 terminal authentication, RADIUS user authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA)

TotalNMS Advantages
Network Dashboard - a comprehensive set of network attributes provides real time and trending information on network throughput, network element utilization, and alarms One Click Management - an intuitive GUI, with easy to use configuration tools and advanced diagnostic capabilities provides effortless provisioning and troubleshooting of networks of any size Global User Access - standard web interface allows access from any PC connected to the secured management network Customized User Administration - user permissions are set according to the service model (ISP/VNO) and the individual job function ISP/VNO Management (TotalVNO) - full support for Virtual Network Operators or ISP service models. Each ISP/VNO can configure services, quota thresholds, IP addresses, and can view its bandwidth allocations, usage, system resources, and VSAT CPEs status Robust Interfaces to OSS/BSS - provides full featured Northbound SOAP interface to your operations and business support systems, enabling smooth integration into the operator networks service assurance and activation processes

High Availability Dense Architecture

SkyEdge II-c is designed to answer the main needs of a large scale multi spot beam system: High Availability System - 1:N redundancy and automatic failover on all hub components provide very high system reliability. Integrated dual star active/active redundant Gbit packet switching architecture guarantees that there is no single point of failure in the system. Unattended Hub Architecture - designed with a full set of out-of-band central management tools to provide remote visibility and control of hub elements. Some of the main tools are: an integrated spectrum analyzer to remotely monitor channels, an RF module enables the debugging of RF issues by switching to embedded low fly simulator, advanced power control to hard power on/off hub modules, full visibility to the chassis HW configuration, and remote console access to all devices enables remote expert analysis of system behavior. Scalable Architecture Reduces CAPEX - hubs can be deployed with support for one outbound carrier and few inbound carriers per beam. Network segments can be added at a later stage to support more capacity. High Density Hubs Reduces Rack Space and Power 66Msps Outbound (support carrier rates up to 200 Mbps) and high density Multi Channel Receivers (up to 10Msps per receiver) to serve a large number of broadband customers.

Operational Simplicity
SkyEdge II-c with its EasyConnect technology provides operational simplicity and reduced OPEX: Simple, Do-It-Yourself, VSAT installation expedites deployment and reduces costs - the VSAT kit is designed with minimum assembly parts and an easy to point antenna. In addition, the ODU is equipped with audible indicators to assist in the fine pointing. The VSAT CPE includes an intuitive GUI interface that guide the installer step by step through the installation and service activation process. Service Automation improves service quality and reduces RF interferences - the SkyEdge II-c includes VSAT Auto Pointing System (VAPS) which enables automatic installation certification based on local/regional beam parameters. VAPS also includes an RF Audit component that allows the satellite service operator to make an RF audit of the installed terminal base to identify antenna misalignment issues over time.

High Speed Broadband Terminals

The SkyEdge II-c VSAT portfolio includes high speed CPEs to provide next generation Internet services via satellite, utilizing advanced embedded acceleration, caching and security technologies to ensure a superior user experience. SkyEdge II-c terminals enables high download speed rates per site of up to 30Mbps unicast and 66Mbps multicast supporting fast web browsing and high quality multimedia including VoIP, IPTV, video, and other IP services.
