3 DEFINITIONS 3.1 Electric Submersible Pumping Artificial method for lifting oil in which the transfer of energy is given by a downhole electric submersible pumping assembly. 3.2 Electric Submersible Pumping Assembly (FIGURE 1) Consists basically of a centrifugal pump coupled with an electric motor, with motor protective device and flat electric extension cable installed at the bottom end of the tubing string. Depending on application, the assembly may require gas separator and/or shroud as well.

3.3 Electric Submersible Pump Multi-stage centrifugal Pump, whose stages consist of rotary impellers and stationary diffusers.

3.4 Electric Motor Prime mover unit, consisting of a three-phase two-pole induction motor filled with mineral or synthetic insulating oil.

3.5 Motor Seal Chamber Protective seal coupled with or directly built into the motor, whose main purpose is to prevent penetration of well fluid into the motor.

3.6 Gas Separator or Intake Device used on the suction side of the pump. 3.6.1 Gas Separator Used when there is free gas present at the suction side of the pump.

Used when there is no free gas in the fluid taken into pump. 3.7 Pot Head Device used to connect the motor extension cable to the motor. 3.8 Motor Lead Extension Three phase motor power cable shaped so as to pass through the annular space between the electric submersible pump and the casing. 3.9 Discharge Head Device used to couple pump to the tubing string. 3.10 Shroud Tubular device used to boost the speed of flow of the fluid through the motor casing in order to cool it down. 3.11 Shroud Adapter Device for attaching the shroud to the motor. 4 GENERAL CONDITIONS 4.1 Sizing 4.1.1 The Electric submersible pump shall be sized by the criteria of API Standard RP 11U. The environmental conditions for operating the equipment shall be reported. To define these conditions, the Table attached to ANNEX C of PETROBRAS N-2415 shall be filled out.

4.1.2 With regard to the Discharge Head, the type of connection with the pump (by flange or threaded appurtenance) as well as the connecting thread type and diameter for the tubing string shall be reported.

4.1.3 In case of using shroud, the manufacturer shall furnish shroud adapter specification. n 4.2 Designation The electric submersible pump shall be designated by user with the following data:

4.3.1 Nameplates or marking of components in the electric submersible pump unit shall be resistant to the well environment and the handling damage in general. One of the following systems of nameplate attachment is recommended: a) machining of a lowered area with cylindrical protrusions so as to attach area plate resistant to the environment by punching into place, as shown in FIGURE 2:

FIGURE 2 - FILLING WITH PLATE b) use of a tri-flux type solder (70Sn/300b) fillet 1,5 mm thick to pill in grooves punched at least 1 millimeter deep, as shown in FIGURE 3. Filling up the grooves completely is not recommended. Series numbers of motor, pump and shroud shall be identified by this system of attachment.

N.B.: Other systems of attachment shall be submitted to PETROBRAS in advance for its approval.

4.3.2 Components shall be identified by at least the following information:

motor - name of manufacturer, name of component, series number, model, type, voltage, current, frequency power and r.p.m.; pump - name of manufacturer, name of component, series number, model, and number of stages; motor seal chamber (when not built into motor) - name of manufacturer, name of component, series number and model; gas separator or intake - name of manufacturer name of component, series number and model; discharge head - name of manufacturer, name of component, series number, model, diameter and type of thread; shroud adapter - manufacturer and part number; pot head/electric extension cable assembly - manufacturer and series number, marked only on pot head.

4.4 Conditioning and Packaging Conditioning and packaging shall be executed in accordance with API Standard RP 11R, complemented with supplier procedures, where necessary.

4.5 Documentation n 4.5.1 Manufacturers shall provide the following information together with the technical proposal:

a) high pot testing procedure; b) testing procedure and acceptance criteria for: - motor seal chamber; - gas separator or intake; - electric extension cable. c) breakdown voltage minimum value for acceptance. d) no load test parameters; e) any other system of nameplate attachment different from specified in 4.3.1.

4.5.2 Manufacturer shall supply, when delivering equipment, the component data sheet of electric submersible pump according to standardized form in ANNEX A and B. 5 INSPECTION AND TESTS 5.1 Visual and Dimensional Checks 5.1.1 In visual inspection the requirements described in this standard shall be complied with. 5.1.2 In dimensional inspection the following points shall be observed: a) pitch, thread height and taperness, and stand-off shall be checked against API Standard 5B; b) maximum external diameters of components in unit shall be checked by API Standard RP 11U.

5.2 Electric Motor Tests shall be done in the following sequence:

5.2.1 High Pot Test Motor, filled with insulating oil, shall be subjected to the high pot test, in accordance with manufacturers procedures.

5.2.2 Oil Dielectric Test Motor insulating oil shall be subjected, after the high pot test, to the oil dielectric test in accordance with ASTM D 877.

5.2.3 Insulation Resistance Test Motor shall have its insulation resistance test measured in accordance with the ANSI/IEEE STD 252 for at least five minutes, at ambient temperature.

5.2.4 Low Voltage Start Test Motor shall be subjected to start test with no load, at 40% of nominal voltage.

Motor shall be subjected to following testes with no load, to check the following itens: a) b) c) d) e) phase to phase voltage; current phase; power required; speed (r.p.m.); coast time (elapsed time until rotor stops after motor is turned off).

5.3 Motor Seal Chamber When the motor seal chamber is not built in to the motor, it shall be checked the free shaft rotation and verified the seal performance under pressure or vacuum, as specified by manufacturers.

5.4 Gas Separator or Intake The gas separator or intake must be subjected to the free shaft rotation test, as specified by manufacturers. n 5.5 Electric Submersible Pump Each pump must be subjected to performance test with calibrated standard motor, in order to obtain flow versus head required power (BHP), and efficiency versus flow curves, in five points at least in accordance with API standard 11S2. (Feel out Data Sheet - 1/1, columns 1 to 5 in the Performance Test) N.B: After this test the pump shall be drained of all test fluid and filled with protective oil. 5.6 Electric Extension Cable A sample of cable from the batch supplied shall be subjected to the crush test and the maximum curvature test in accordance with manufacturer procedures. 5.7 Electric Extension Cable/Pot Head Assembly The extension cable/pot head assembly shall be subjected to the following tests, in accordance with the sequence indicated: a) Electric Resistance Test The assembly shall be tested in accordance with ICEA Standard S-68.516. It shall be taken for maximum value of measured resistance, the constants listed in the TABLE, as follows:

N.B: 1) Values for electric resistance shall be refered to temperature of 20C; 2) For measuring electrical resistance at temperatures different from 20C, it shall be. b) Voltage Test: The assembly shall be tested in accordance with the ANSI/IEEE STD 1017 with the test voltage between each conductor and the other two conductors grounded, together with the metallic armor, during five-minute period; c) Insulation Resistance Test If the voltage test were executed with direct current, the insulating resistance test shall be executed 24 hours after the conductors were short circuited. The test shall be performed in accordance with ICEA S-68.516.

6 ACCEPTANCE AND REJECTION 6.1 Assembly Components shall be rejected on visual and dimensional examination, if they: a) Are not in accordance with this standard requirements; b) Have screw threads not in accordance with API STD 5B; c) Have an external diameter equals to or greater than the diameter of the drift corresponding to the tubing for which the assembly was designed, in accordance with API Standard SPEC 5CT. 6.2 Motor 6.2.1 Oil Dielectric Test If a motor after the high pot test shows oil dielectric measurement lower than that specified by the manufacturer, it shall be rejected.

6.2.2 Insulating Resistance Test

Motor insulating resistance, measured between phase and ground, shall be at least 5.000 MOhm. n 6.2.3 Low Voltage Start Test Motors which are not starting with 40% of nominal voltage shall be rejected. 6.2.4 No Load Test Motors showing results that disagree with manufacturers specified parameters shall be rejected. 6.3 Motor Seal Chamber In free shaft rotation test a motor seal chamber that is not in accordance with manufacturers specifications shall be rejected. In vacuum or pressure seal test, if motor seal chamber displays leakage through the seal rings and mechanical seals, shall be rejected. 6.4 Gas Superior or Intake If a gas separator or intake is not in accordance with the manufacturers specifications shall be rejected. 6.5 Electric Submersible Pump An electric submersible pump shall be rejected if the values of the curves as measured in operating range disagree with the values defined in API Standard RP 11S2. 6.6 Electric Extension Cable An electric extension cable shall be rejected if the minimum values in the crush test and maximum curvature test are not complied with. 6.7 Electric Extension Cable/Pot Head Assembly An electric extension cable/pot head assembly shall be rejected if: a) the electric resistance values exceed those of the TABLE in the test described in 5.7 a); b) the resistance of the insulation is less than 10.000 MOhms, in the test according to 5.7 c). ____________________ /ANNEX
