What goes out on the curb and what does not:


Garbage Cart** - BAGGED household garbage including food waste and trash (see inside lid for info). Recycling Cart* - Household recyclables. (www.brgov. com/recycle for accepted items). No separation or bagging necessary. No garbage, scrap metal, yard or woody waste. Bulky Trash, Yard & Wood Waste, Leaves & Grass*
- Placed next to each other but not mixed together. No household garbage, loose or bagged. garbage cart: furniture, TVs, large household items, homeowner-generated remodeling debris, mattresses, water heaters, carpet, fencing, lumber, etc. Do not bag.

Yard & Woody Waste* - Such as brush piles, tree Bagged Leaves & Grass* - Do not mix with bulky

limbs and shrub prunings. Do not bag, place loose at the curb for recycling. trash or yard & woody waste. Yard waste, leaves & grass left in old garbage cans will not be collected. Do not place in carts.

hazardous waste in carts or at curb (paint, chemicals, thinner, batteries, electronics). Go to www.brgov.com/recycle for drop off events and a downloadable chart of businesses that accept household hazardous waste year-round. No Contractors Trash. Large trees and woody waste placed at the curb by a tree service or contractor will not be picked up by Allied Waste. It is the responsibility of the tree service to haul away the cut trees and limbs. If the contractor refuses or fails to do so, the home owner must haul away the material. Also, landlord renovations to rental property is a commercial waste activity. Allied Waste will not pick up this type of waste. Landlords must contact a waste company and rent a dumpster for construction debris disposal.

How to Dispose of Latex Paint


Latex Paint Is not hazardous! Do not bring to Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day for disposal!

All carts are the property of the City of Baton Rouge.

Each cart has a number stamped on it which is assigned to a specific house address. Keep track of this number, it will be required when reporting a damaged or stolen cart. If the resident moves away from that address, the cart stays for the next resident.

Call 925-3442 for a recycling cart or cart repairs. Call 311 for missed garbage, trash or recycling pickup. Go to www.brgov.com for more info.

Empty and dried up latex paint cans with the lids off can go into your garbage cart! Dry out any liquid latex paint in cans first before placing in garbage cart. Dont put cans with liquid latex paint out for pick up.
How to dry out latex paint: If theres an inch or less of paint in the can, remove lid and let paint air dry. If theres more than an inch of paint in the can, mix paint with equal amount of cat litter, stir and let it dry before placing in garbage cart. Do not put any kind of OIL PAINT out for pickup. It is hazardous. Oil paint can be safely disposed of at Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day.
