.ENERGY CONSERVATION
MRNNINB il&/,
TPADITIONAIJ
With the need for Energy Conservation, in the development of higher efficlency lamp sources have been, and are still being made. These sources. which produce higher lumen output per watt of energy used and give longer lamp life, all require ballasts, resulting in higher inltial cost of equipment, but save electrical consumption over their extended life. At times these ballasts call be incorporated into the fixture but often because of insufficient room it becomes necessaryto mountthe ballasts rernotely in crawl space obove the ceilrng, if available- Reflectors must also be incorporated to obtain the most efficient distrrbutton patterns. The lamps are also more costly, but because of their longer life and reduced maintenance cost for replacement, this differential is somewhat reduced. lncandescent lamps shown in this cata, log have an average lamp life of 2000 hours, whereas the new more efficient sources have lamp lives of from 7000 to as high as 24000 hours. Since church lighting is not used as extens vely as sonte other types of general llghtlng, we es. timate that the 2000 hour life of incandescent lamps, based upon an average equipment use of about l0 hours per week, would project an average lafip life of approximately 3 to 4 years before lamp replacement becornes necessary. With the same average weekly use with the more effcient lamp sources, this would result in 12 years of rnore of use before lamp replacement becomes necessary, A decision then becomes necessary to determine whether the longer lanrp life, the lower main tenance costs to replace lamps, and lower energy costs outwegh the h gher inttial equipment cost and higher lamp costs Jor their limited use. ln some cases, replacement of the incancjes cent lamping with these more effrcient lanrp sources can result ln 50 to 6070 reduct on in wat. tage with a 10 to 55% increase in lumen output, and a 3 to l0 trmes longer lamp Jife. Color quality is also an impoftant consideration. Some energy saving lamps do not have the best color quality Jor church ilghtlng, and though development in new lamp sources js conttn. uing, at present it is necessary to combille various lamp sources presently avatlable to obtain the best final results at minimum cost. All units i this catalog are available with energy efficient lamp sources, but an increase in equipment cost, and cost of iamps in the area of about 15 to 20o/o should be anticipated. Be. cause of the continuing developments we can engineer and propose the appearance design of your choice, equipped with the most recent lamp sources, and based upo| your specific needs, we can submit a lamping suggestion and quotation upon your special request enclosing a set
great strides
