Local Sales/Use Tax Changes

Know Your Tax Reporting Obligations

(Effective April 1, 2012)

Clark County
Sales and use tax within all of Clark County PTBA will increase
two-tenths of one percent (.002). The tax will be used for
transportation services.

Taxpayers are responsible for knowing their tax reporting

obligations. Due to budget restrictions, the Department is unable to
mail information to taxpayers as often as we did in the past. So how
can you learn about law changes?
Here are some tips:

Franklin County
Sales and use tax within all of Franklin County will increase
three-tenths of one percent (.003). The tax will be used for criminal
justice and public safety services.
Mason County
Sales and use tax within all of Mason County will increase
one-tenth of one percent (.001). The tax will be used for chemical
dependency or mental health services.
City of North Bend
Sales and use tax within the City of North Bend will increase
two-tenths of one percent (.002). The tax will be used for
transportation services.
Pierce County
Sales and use tax within all of Pierce County will increase
one-tenth of one percent (.001). The tax will be used for
communication services.

Spirits Sales Privatization

Businesses interested in selling spirits may apply for a liquor license
at bls.dor.wa.gov/liquor.aspx. To learn about taxes on spirits, visit our

City of Shelton
Sales and use tax within the City of Shelton will increase
one-tenth of one percent (.001). The tax will be used for criminal
justice and public safety services.
Skamania County
Sales and use tax within parts of Skamania County will increase
5-tenths of one percent (.005). The rate reflects the addition of the
optional .005 sales tax imposed by the county.
Sales and use tax within all of Skamania County will increase
an additional two-tenths of one percent (002). The tax will be used
for criminal justice, public safety, and mental health services.

Annexations - Boundary Changes

City of Woodland
Sales and use tax within the City of Woodland will increase
one-tenth of one percent (.001). The tax will be used for criminal
justice and public safety services.

Export Washington

Adams County
Lind

The Washington State Department of Commerce Export Voucher

program provides up to $5,000 to help small businesses start
exporting or expand to new export markets. Vouchers help pay
for trade show fees and airfare, translation services, international
certifications, and other expenses. For more information, visit www.
choosewashington.com and select Apply for an Export Voucher.
Motor Vehicle Sales, Leases, and Rentals
The sale, lease, or rental of a motor vehicle, licensed for
on-road use, is subject to a tax of three-tenths of one
percent (.003) of the selling price.
This tax is in addition to the state and local sales tax. It is
not due if the rental car tax applies.
