HEALTH INNOVATIONS POLL: SUMMARY FINDINGS

The healthcare environment today is one of seemingly competing and conflicting demands. Increasing public discourse around the need for cost containment lives side-by-side with consumer demand for unfettered access to care. In this setting, understanding shifting public opinion is critical to shaping innovative solutions that are meaningful to healthcare consumers. Research+Data Insights, a division of H+K Strategies, conducted a nationally representative Health Innovations Poll to better understand public attitudes towards healthcare. Eight hundred Americans aged 18 and over, shared their views on the state of healthcare -- their concerns, expectations and what they value most. CONSUMERS DONT UNDERSTAND OR APPRECIATE THE NOTION OF INNOVATION; THEY CARE MOSTLY ABOUT COSTS Having access to innovative treatments isnt something most people worry about. Is the following something that you worry about a lot, is this something you worry about somewhat or is this something you do not worry about? [Ranked by Worry a lot] Paying medical bills in the event of a catastrophic illness or accident Paying for health insurance coverage Making sure you and your family receive the best quality health care Losing health coverage if you or your significant other lose a job 45 36 33 32
