Applications
The high capacity of these brakes makes them particularly suitable as secondary emergency brakes on main hoists (ladle cranes). Other applications are possible in material handling, requiring power and compact design in either direction of rotation, particularly in replacing band brakes. Use of the brakes for applications with high duty cycles should be specifically indicated during technical selection procedure.
Operating Restrictions
Brakes of this range are tested both mechanically and hydraulically and are set to nominal force. This setting can only be changed by the manufacturer. Operating conditions other than described in this brochure require the manufacturers approval and may influence the function of the caliper and its components.
Please Note
We supply a detailed operating manual with every order. Nevertheless, we would point out that brakes are only as safe as the servicing and maintenance performed while they are in operation. The guarantee for the correct functioning of our brakes is therefore only valid if the user adheres to the German DIN standard 15434 part 2 (drum and disc brakes, servicing and maintenance in operation), or to comparable standards in his own country.

The Brake Control Unit BCU 2001 records characteristic current and voltage variations, which are induced by movements of the armature disk in the magnetic field of the brake coil. In an interference free and reliable manner it evaluates the signal levels in terms of the control state (applied or released) and the maximum air gap (maximum wear).
Applications
Container cranes Ship winches Automatic racking systems Conveyor belts General electrical drives
Important requirements
AC and DC circuit to be switched simultaneously AC circuit may not be switched alone

Description VSR
In response to the on-going requirement to simplify the maintenance of industrial brakes and at the same time to increase their operational safety, PINTSCH BUBENZER offers a retrofitable, compact electronic status indication system to be integrated into the brake as an additional safety kit.
Technical Data:
Operating voltage: Scope of supply: 110-120 V or 220-240 V, 50/60 Hz 2 PT100 temperature sensors with adapter plug 2 wear sensors with adapter plug 1 actuator stroke sensor 1 electronic box IP65 with cable connection
The operating status of the brake is indicated by red and green LEDs mounted in an electronic enclosure with a transparent cover. A push button is mounted atop the enclosure which flashes to indicate out-of-tolerance situations, and is also used to light all LEDs for test purposes. As an option, a signal light or alarm can be connected to the 10 amp dry contact included with the system (e.g. in the operators cab). If the monitored brake parameters are within tolerance, all green LEDs will light. In case of an out-of-tolerance parameter, the respective green LED goes off, and the opposite red LED starts flashing. If in the meantime the indicated failure has been remedied, e. g. through a temperature reduction at the brake pads, both the red and the green LED flash by turns. Pushing the red flash light button will cancel the failure indication and all LEDs will reset to green again. PINTSCH BUBENZER disc brakes of the SB8, SB14, SB23 and SB28 series may be additionally equipped with the VSR-kit. The brake pads and the thruster will then be fitted with the respective sensors. The electronic box will be fitted to the spring tube of the brake. The outline dimensions of the brake will not be affected by the additional VSR kit (VSR for hydraulic caliper brakes / drum brakes upon request).
