SUBA & UNICO was founded in 1976, on the initiative of operators who pride themselves on many years of experience

in seed field. The company has grown quickly within the last years, and has achieved today the position of Italian leader in the production and trade of vegetable seeds. The activity of SUBA & UNICO production is basically divided in two parts: Management of multiplication contracts, even on a large scale, on behalf of the largest seed companies in the world, with their own stockseeds or with the ones supplied from the Customers Own production of a wide range of vegetable seeds varieties, using stockseeds whose varietal purity is controlled, in order to be able to satisfy the requirements of their customers all over the world. SUBA & UNICO makes use of services supplied by production centers located both in Italy and abroad, which are provided with technologically advanced structures and equipments, allowing a high-standard level in seeds production. Briefly, the production is obtained by: Multiplication of highly selected stockseeds, preserved and improved in varietal purity. Location of best soils in areas with the most suitable climatic conditions, in collaboration with experienced farmers and using the most advanced techniques. Special attention is paid to cultivations isolation, in order to avoid an undesirable pollination by other varieties. Steady supervision operated by a technically qualified staff during the entire vegetative cycle, from sowing to harvest, advising the farmers about the techniques to be used in the various steps, as weedkilling procedures, antiparasitic treatment, threshing and harvesting. Accurate selection using the most modern machines, which are able to get a very high purity, by removing foreign bodies as well as weed-seeds. On request, it is even possible to execute the sizing and the optical selection of the seed (based on seed color) with particularly sophisticated machines. Accurate tests, before shipping, for germination, specific purity (especially by detecting the presence of weed seeds) and presence of seed-transmissible diseases. Tests are carried out either by own laboratories, the Analysis Laboratory of the Agrarian Faculty of Bolognas University and the National Agency Elected Seeds (E.N.S.E.) of Tavazzano (Milan). An further control about the varietal feutures, is carried out by placing, every year, several test-demonstratives field. All produced seeds are sowed in several periods of the year and compared with varieties of national and foreign origin, in order to maintain an high varietal standard and to control the sanitary condition of the plants; SUBA & UNICO s trial fields are at disposal of customers for guided visits. Since 1996 SUBA & UNICO has established itself in a new facility, with still more wide and rational warehouses, renewing and widening most part of the equipment. Currently our company uses, for its activity, the most modern machines for the selection and processing of seeds, beyond dehumidification, pest control and dressing equipments enabling to store the seeds at proper humidity level and to ensure a flawless preservation. In order to satisfy the increasing demand, coming from many customers, our company has been equipped with seedpackaging systems; we are therefore able to satisfy every requirement from the pint of view of packaging SUBA & UNICO was one of the first companies, in Italy, to get the Organic Certification and is producing, since many years, a large range of Organic vegetable seeds varieties. This special production is managed, according with the strict ECC norms, by a process which is completely separated by the traditional production; seed crops are cultivated in Organic Farms and afterwards selected, in proper warehouses, by proper equipments. The whole cycle of biological productions is carried out under the constant control of an Official Organism. Another part of SUBA & UNICO s activity is the production of seeds for sprouting purpose, obtained both by traditional and organic sprouting; particular attention is paid to these seeds, in order to reach the highest possible germination. At last, another part of SUBA & UNICO prerogative is the care and quickness used in executing orders commissioned by the customers. The confidence placed in us by a large number of Italian and foreign companies is a proof of our efficient organization, professionalism and reliability of our work as well as the good quality of our seeds: that has allowed SUBA & UNICO to get the prestigious Quality Certification UNI EN ISO 9001:2000. Being certain that our Customers will keep on giving preference to us and trying to gain the confidence of those who do not know us yet, we assure that we will always do our best to meet their needs, because the success of our Customers is our success.
