The Problem We call it the Hot Mess

MSB has 25+ separate, virtually independent administrative systems to follow critical business processes. These current processes are linked more by human factors and informal arrangements than by designed and efficient business rules. They current process is not only inefficient in terms of costs, but critically deficient in terms of lost opportunities and the ability to leverage data to facilitate innovation and quick response to business opportunities.

The Solution Salesforce as an MSB-wide Solution


Use Salesforce as a tool to integrate the various data resources under a single, united platform. Replace or integrate existing services as appropriate on a case by-case basis. Some apps will feed Salesforce. Some processes will be migrated to new, fully Salesforce aware applications and the old apps discontinued. Concentrate on training administrators on the flexible and expansive nature of this new resource and use this access to encourage thinking across the old barriers.

MSB intends to use Salesforce to apply smart business practices to higher education administration.

The Plan
Strategic Thinking, Professional Planning, Phased Implementation
Strategic Plan Timeline and Detail MSB has created a SalesForce Strategic Plan. It is in place. The strategy detailed addresses the relative priorities and general schedule for Salesforce implementation across the school. It identifies the key stakeholders and benefits. Roadmap Approach The Salesforce Success team of ACF Solutions and MSB staff has conducted a series of stakeholder and functional area sessions to gather business use cases and document goals and requirements across MSB. We have turned this into a detailed roadmap reflecting both technical assessments and department priorities. The roadmap elements include: Develop a 360 view of MSB constituents from prospect to alumna, and other constituent relationships. Standardize a centralized solution to leverage and access data. Make data and custom solutions available MSB units to support their individual missions. Increase efficiencies of MSB staff by automating manual processes, standardizing procedures, and enhancing interdepartmental collaboration and data transparency. Promote and support secure data practices by reducing data stored on individual staff and faculty hard drives and desktops.

What Will Salesforce Do for MSB?
