PRESS RELEASE

The Cabinet this morning met under the chairmanship of H.E. the President Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta where the following were approved: (i) TITLE DEEDS

Cabinet approved issuance of 60,000 title deeds at the Coast Region by the end of this month August, 2013.

(ii)

KENYA AT 50 CELEBRATION

Cabinet approved setting up of a National Secretariat for Kenya at 50 Celebrations. The Committee will plan the celebrations to mark 50years since the independence in 1963.

(iii)

ELECTRICITY CONNECTION

The cabinet also noted the high cost of connecting electricity following the recent increase of charges. This move has made it difficult for wananchi to afford connecting electricity to their homes. To enable Wananchi continue connecting to power, Cabinet instructed the ministry of Energy to revert toKshs.35,000/= charged before for connecting electricity, this should be done immediately.

(iv)

LAPTOP IMPLEMENTATION

Cabinet approved the setting up of laptops implementation in primary Schools. This is intended to ensure a smooth roll out of the laptop programe in January, 2014.

JOMO KENYATTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT FIRE

Cabinet appreciated the overwhelming support received by Kenyans, Private Sector and friendly Foreign Governments following the fire at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Wednesday 10th August, 2013. As a result operations at the airport are now back to normal.
