The College Board strongly encourages educators to make equitable access a guiding principle for their Advanced Placement (AP) programs by giving all interested and academically prepared students the opportunity to participate in AP. Advanced Placement courses require college-level course work, culminating in a rigorous college-level exam. Honors courses require rigorous coursework designed to prepare students for future work in an AP class. AP and Honors level courses generally require a significant amount of additional reading, writing, and other study preparation in order to be successful as compared to standard courses.
By signing this form, you are: 1. Understanding that you are choosing to enroll your student in an academically rigorous course and the students grade in this course will positively or negatively impact the students college admissions.

Understanding that by choosing to enroll your student in a more academically rigorous course then the DCPS scheduling guidelines allows forfeits your ability to request a schedule change to remove the student from the course if it becomes difficult during the school year. This could result in the need to retake the class on FLVS, summer school, or in a future school year and prevent the student from meeting promotion or graduation deadlines.
