all students with a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment where student-centered
learning produces life long thinkers, readers, and writers.

Vision statement:
We are committed to providing students with a rigorous curriculum to obtain a high-quality
education which maximizes their potential to become productive citizens and lifelong learners.

Belief Statements:
 Regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religion, or socioeconomic status, all students can
learn.
 Every child is valued.
 A safe environment promotes student learning.
 The family, school, and community should work collaboratively to support the district's
mission.
 Students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process.
 The curriculum should engage learners and promote higher order thinking skills through
innovative and integrative instructional practices and assessment procedures.
 A student's self-esteem is enhanced by positive relationships and mutual respect among and
between students and staff.

Community Statement:
Here in Rosei Springs School District we are committed, not only to our students, but to our
parents and community. We recognizes that education is a shared responsibility throughout
a student’s life. Schools, families and communities all contribute to student success, and the best
results come when all three work together. School-family-community partnerships are formed to
support student success and help adults coordinate their efforts to promote learning. Students, also,
play an important role in partnerships and must take responsibility for their own learning. Schools
should take the lead in developing and sustaining effective partnerships, but to harness the power
of all learning in a child’s life, partnership activities must be implemented at home and in the
community, as well as at school.
Characteristics of Successful Partnerships:1
Successful partnerships exhibit as much variety as the local conditions that create them. To be
effective, they must recognize, respect and address families’ diverse interests, needs, and talents, as
well as economic and cultural differences. Partnerships must accommodate these differences by
providing multiple opportunities for participation at various times and locations. From early
childhood and preschool programs to before- and after-school settings, partnerships must be
tailored to all stages and settings of a student’s educational career. Most important, to succeed,
partnerships must be flexible and based upon trust and mutual respect.

A Framework for Action:

The Rosei Springs School district believes school-family-community partnerships should address
each of the following six standards:

1. parenting – promote and support parenting skills and the family’s primary role in
encouraging children's learning at every age and grade level;
2. communicating – promote ongoing, meaningful and effective communication among
schools, families and the community about school programs and children's progress;
3. volunteering – provide appropriate training and involve families and community members
in instructional and support areas both in and out of the school;
4. learning at home – involve families in learning activities at home and in the community,
including interactive homework and other curriculum-linked enrichment activities;
5. decision making – provide opportunities for all families to develop and strengthen their
leadership role in school decisions; and
6. collaborating with the community – enable schools and families to access resources from
businesses, social service agencies and other groups, and serve as resources to the
community.

To be effective, any use of these standards should be focused on educational goals and designed to
engage students and families in developing specific knowledge and skills. Parent and community
involvement that is linked to student learning has greater effect on achievement than more general
involvement.

Each member of a school-family-community partnership plays a unique and important role in

contributing to success for all students.

A Role for Schools and Districts

To develop and sustain strong partnership programs, local schools and districts, with the
involvement of parent and community leaders, must identify goals for school-family-community
partnerships; develop structures for systematically implementing the six standards; monitor
progress to learn which practices produce the best results; make school facilities available to the
community and families; and build relationships with local businesses and community
organizations that support educational goals. Most significant, school systems must provide

training and support for teachers, administrators, other staff members and parents in developing
partnership skills, especially around understanding and appreciating diversity and developing skills
to work with people from different backgrounds.

A Role for Families

Families may take advantage of opportunities their school provides to become involved in
activities related to the six standards cited above, or seek out other ways to contribute that meet
their needs and interests. Most important, families make critical contributions to student
achievement by providing a home environment conducive to lifelong learning, and by holding
children to high but realistic expectations. Research finds that the way children spend their time at
home has a stronger relationship to success in school than does family income level. Children tend
to do better in school when families read to them, support homework completion, talk with them
about school and help them plan their education programs. Programs that specifically engage
families in supporting their children’s learning at home are linked to higher student achievement.
Engaging in family literacy activities that create a literate home environment and stimulating
parent-child interactions are particularly important. Family literacy involves making day-to-day
routines that are the fabric of family life fun and productive learning opportunities. Family literacy
takes many forms, including not only reading books but also talking, singing, writing or drawing,
and reflects the family’s ethnic, racial or cultural heritage. Family literacy includes adults
expanding their own skills and knowledge, and viewing themselves and their children as a learning
team.

A Role for the Community

Service organizations, religious groups, businesses and individuals can develop networks for
communicating with schools and families about available support for education. Before- and after-
school programs provide a particularly important opening for supporting schools and families.
Community agencies can collaborate to provide integrated family support services that build upon
existing community resources and link with public schools. Community members can serve as
volunteers, role models and mentors, increasing individualized attention for students and
demonstrating to both children and staff members that their community values education.
Businesses can sponsor school-family-community partnership activities and encourage employees
to play an active role in education. Integrating the community into the education of our youth is
crucial to their lifelong learning and success.

Governance:
Rosei Springs School District does not have a local board of education. We do, however, have a
county board of education who are appointed.

The summer is over!! I hope that you have taken time to relax, reflect, and rejuvenate yourselves
for the upcoming school year. As we embark on higher standards, a more rigorous curriculum, and
getting back to the basics, I say “Welcome Back.”

The administrative team and our assistants have committed countless hours to ensure structure and
order as we start the school year. This year we look forward to positive changes along with new
ways of doing things. As a team, we will leap to boundaries others never perceived possible.

As a part of this team, I hope you come with three vital ingredients- a positive attitude, a love for
children, and the dedication to make a difference at Rosei Springs High School. Again, welcome

Faculty Evaluations:
Informal, drop-in evaluations will occur regularly in order to provide the avenues for on-going
feedback sessions. The purpose of this session is to help our instructional program become better.
We are all lifelong learners and though this process we can expect to continue to grow
professionally. These informal evaluations can/will be done by any district administrator. Each
teacher will receive a copy of this by the end of the day. The form will indicate if a conference is
necessary. Also, be mindful that supervision is ongoing and takes place all day, everyday.

All certified school personnel will be formally evaluated in accordance with district policy. These
policies will be the topic of a faculty meeting this fall. Additionally, the district has prepared a
formal procedure that administration will use for your formal evaluation. This formal evaluation is
summative in nature and not base on a single observation.

Technology:
Every room in Rosei Springs High School is equipped with: white board, lcd projectors, teacher
computer, student computers and a smart board. If you are unfamiliar with this technology please
sign up for technology training. As every classroom is supplied with state of the art equipment,
we expect that it will be utilized daily. We will be looking for it in your lesson plans.

Curriculum:
As educators we must adhere to the state standards and frameworks set in place. All lesson plans
are expected to clearly state the objective and the DOK level for each lesson. We encourage
teachers to work together to create a comprehensive and integrated curriculum. Studies have
shown that an integrated curriculum greatly benefits students.

Reading:
Reading is a crucial tool for success. The elementary school heavily emphasizes reading, including
reading in their curriculum as a separate subject. Even though we are teaching high school it is still
important to incorporate reading in our lessons. All students who are not reading at grade level
will be place in a mandatory reading class with a reading specialist.

Meetings:
1. Focus Faculty Meeting will be held on Tuesdays or as announced. Professional
Development sessions will be held on Wednesdays about twice a month. You will be able to
chose the session/series you would like to attend. All faculty members are expected to
attend faculty meetings unless you are at an approved activity.
2. Department meetings will be held as announced on a day designated by each department
chairperson.
3. Professional meetings- Only personnel designated by the principals and staff development
committees shall represent the school at meetings, seminars, workshops, etc.
Contracts:
All certified personnel's contracts go to the Board of Eduction for review annually. Decisions for
renewal are base on several factors which include the teacher evaluations, personal responsibility,
and professions presence. If your contract has not been renewed you will be informed by April 5th
and may apply for a reason for dismissal, which will be available one year after termination.

Discipline:
One of the most important lessons of education is discipline. While it does not appear as a subject, it is
the foundation of the entire educational structure. It is the training that develops self-control, character,
efficiency, and good citizenship. It is a key to a good conduct and proper consideration of other people.
With an understanding of the purposes of discipline in the school, a student will form a proper attitude,
and not only help to make the school an effective place of learning, but also develop the habit of self-
restraint which will make the student a better person.

Rules:
Here at Rosei Springs High School we expect that are students will abide by the school rules and
the rules set forth in every classroom by the teacher. We expect that our students will be respectful
and courteous to the administrators, teachers, staff and each other. Fighting and/or inciting fights is
not tolerated and will result in suspension and even expulsion for the remainder of the year. As
each teacher has his or her own classroom rules most consequences will be carried out by them.
However, if your action results in a Discipline Referral Form the assistant principal will determine
your consequence base on the offense. Some consequences include, but are not limited to: after
school detention, Saturday detention, in-school suspension, parent conference, parent monitoring,
and suspension.
