As with all the best ideas, the basic concept behind FlexTee is devilishly simple and, in retrospect, blindingly obvious. Rather than trying to force the pipe to conform to the shape of the tapping tee, FlexTee has a flexible electrofusion mat which conforms to the shape of the pipe. A sacrificial understrap keeps the tapping tee in place both during and after the electrofusion jointing process. Other than a screwdriver no tooling is required to install FlexTee: no re-rounding clamps, no top-loading clamps nothing! Your service laying teams are free to

Do you use coiled polyethylene pipe?

If you do, youll know that the coiling process creates ovality in the pipe. Youll also recognise only too well the problems that this ovality generates when you look to achieve optimal joint integrity when electrofusing tapping tees. Traditionally, the emphasis has been on re-rounding the pipe. At best, re-rounding is an imperfect, timeconsuming and expensive process requiring installation teams to carry additional tooling; at worst, it is ignored. In either case, guaranteeing a quality joint is fraught with potential problems.

FlexTee Installation guide

To fit the FlexTee from Fusion, follow the simple process outlined below.

Scrape the pipe.

Mark on the pipe the area to be scraped.

Scrape the pipe.

Place the FlexTee on the pipe. As with any electrofusion fitting, ensure that the fusion mat remains clean and uncontaminated.

Scrape the pipe.

Feed the underpart under the pipe....

....and clip in place.

Tighten the two retaining screws until the stops meet.

Attach the electrofusion leads.

Fuse using barcode, Fusamatic or manual entry of fusion parameters.
