sealant. The product cures when confined in the absence of air within porosity or close fitting metal surfaces. Its very low viscosity and excellent wettability enable it to wick into porosity through capillary action.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS CastSeal is the best choice for sealing porosity in cast iron,
brass, bronze, and copper parts when the part is required to contain a liquid or gas under pressure.
CastSeal is formulated from the highest quality monomers to maximize the service operating range of the polymer. CastSeal is recommended for continuous service at least to 180C (356F). Contact your Impco representative for help in evaluating your application needs.
IV. CURING RATES AND METHODS
CLEANUP
CastSeal remains wet on the surface for ease of clean-up. Uncured CastSeal can be easily wiped off or rinsed from parts, tools and brushes using water. No detergents or solvents are required. I. GENERAL PROPERTIES The following data is not intended to be used for specifications, but are typical properties based on laboratory results. Impco technical personnel can help determine actual specification data. (4-27-11)
CastSeal forms a densely cross linked thermoset polymer when cured. Polymerization (cure) occurs as a result of the presence of free ions and the absence of oxygen. Because it cures anaerobically, CastSeal will cure at room temperature in as little as 60 minutes. Cure speeds can be accelerated through the use of heat. Once cured, CastSeal will fluoresce under UV light.
V. STORAGE
CastSeal should be stored in a cool, dry location in unopened containers at a temperature between 8-28C,(4682F). Optimal storage is at the lower half of the temperature range. Shelf life is approximately 12 months. Once parts A&B are mixed shelf life is less than 24 hours.
VI. DISPOSAL Cured (solid) CastSeal can be disposed as a non-hazardous, solid waste. Liquid CastSeal should be solidified prior to disposal.
