The US remains the most dangerous threat to world peace and

security despite the financial turmoil now sweeping across

the United States. The US spends more than half a trillion
dollars annually on its armed forces but this amount does
not cover 'operating expenses' in occupied lands such as in
Iraq and Afghanistan.

The present American budget deficit is expected to worsen to

1.8 trillion dollars in fiscal 2009 from about 500 billion
in fiscal 2008. Much of the deficit is caused by the wild
spending initiated by the Pentagon. Another is of course the
huge bailout money set aside for failed big business CEOs.

The American military is aware that the days of superpower

status might be ending in the not too distant future, there-
fore it would really be nice to spend like there is no tom-
morow now.

Already the US military is calling for more purchase of new

fighter planes, including further deliveries of the F-22, a
plane that costs more than US$ 145 million a piece and also
more additions of the Super Hornet naval fighter. Much of the
additional hardware will be assigned to areas in which the
US is at present trying to behave like the proverbial bully
boy. These areas include the Persian Gulf and the East China
Sea.

Not just contend to up its conventional weaponry while making

provocative moves against other sovereign nations, the US is
also busily shoring up its nuclear strike force. In 2009, the
American nuclear arsenal will be given extra money, up to half
a trillion dollars, to consolidate all of its nuclear weapons
under a brand new command called the 'Global Strike Command'.

This is in spite of the huge debt the American government is

incurring in the meantime and also within the period where
there has been a new man in the White House. The change in
the American leadership clearly has no effect whatsoever on
the threat posed by the US military to the rest of the world.

America is the only country in the world today to possess a

huge nuclear-capable bomber fleet. There are at least 75 such
bombers ready at any moment's notice to fly up into the air
and deliver death and destruction to any nation which dares
to oppose American orders and objectives. American military
analysts have in the past boasted about the US having complete
domination of the battle space in the 21st century and surely
we can see today that this boast is no empty one.

America is also the only country to view the rest of the world
as legitimate military targets given its unchallenged mastery
of the modern nature of warfare. Its military satellites fly
over every inch of territory on the earth, its spy ships and
unmanned drones regularly intrude into the territorial space
belonging to other countries providing information to the CIA
and other military intelligence agencies.

At the same time, American politicians and right-wing groups

carry out their cleverly planned campaigns to demonise nations
perceived to be either hostile or reluctant to go along with
the desired goal of total American global domination.

America is not merely only contend to increase its military

might even in a time of deep financial difficulty but it has
ensured that others are available do its bidding as well.
The NATO organisation was recently increased in size to 28
nations with the latest additions of Croatia and Albania.
NATO is the most heavily armed military grouping in the
world today. The world has no other armed equivalent.

The American air force is also the most powerful in the world
today and US air force officials often emphasised that there
is no area or region in the world that the US air force cannot
penetrate. Its aircraft and pilots are said to be capable of
dominating the skies 'anywhere anytime'. This is nothing less
than a direct threat to everyone and goes to show the danger
posed by the US threat is very real.

Despite the fact that the American federal government is near

bankrupt, American research and development in advanced fields
of weaponry goes on daily without the slightest hitch. The US
is way ahead in exotic technologies associated with advanced
weapons including 'electron lasers' and electromagnetic pulse
weapons. These are designed to mercilessly incapacitate and
neutralise America's adversaries in the future. The world will
then belong totally to the US. This is the cherished dream of
the American imperialist. No time in the past is like the time
that is now with us. We are totally at the mercy of the most
dangerous threat to world peace and security. Pity the world.
Each and every one of us must go to sleep every night knowing
that we have a modern-day Genghis waiting to slaughter us all.
Again pity the world.

The world must sit up and assess just how dangerous the US has
become. It has become increasingly desperate due to the mess
that it has found itself in, and the US military is near semi-
independent in its everyday conduct. This combination truly
spells serious trouble for the rest of the world. Very serious
trouble indeed.
