Level 3 Certificate in Advertising

Following on from the article in the previous edition of the LCCI Update, announcing the review of the Level 3 Certificate in Advertising qualification, we would like to inform you of the progress. We have now completed the review and the updated syllabus will be available on our website November 2012. As a result of the review, we have revised the syllabus topic titles and have taken the opportunity to improve the relevance of the qualification by including new content relating to website and internet advertising, advertising planning, creative techniques and formats, new media and the legal concepts of copyright and defamation. There are no other changes to the technical content of the syllabus. The layout of the syllabus now consists of Learning Outcomes, Assessment Criteria and Taught Content. This presentation is more beneficial to centres and learners as it provides detailed guidance on what learners should understand and be able to do.

As per the previous article, the assessment will remain as a written examination paper but will consist of five compulsory questions instead of a choice of five from ten. Please see the revised syllabus for more detailed information on the assessment. A sample examination paper and associated mark scheme and a Examination Guidance for Candidates document will also be available on the website in November 2012. All examinations, Series or On Demand, sat after 1 June 2013 will be on the revised syllabus and assessment.

Level 2 Certificate in Employability Skills

As per the article in the previous edition of the LCCI Update, the revised Practical Assessment Candidate Book and Tutor Support Pack for the Level 2 Certificate in Employability Skills will be available for download from our website from October 2012. Revisions to these documents were carried out to ensure that the assessment remains valid and to provide greater transparency about the assessment requirements.

5th Annual LCCI Hungary Medallion Presentation at the British Embassy
It seems just a few weeks ago that we were celebrating the 2011 event and here we are once again, for the fifth time now, celebrating the achievements of the LCCI English for Business Hungarian Gold and Silver Medallion winners. The event, which as usual was held in the prestigious surroundings of the Old Banking Hall at the British Embassy in Budapest was attended by HM Ambassador Jonathan Knott, representatives of LCCI Centres from across the country and of course the medallion winners with their families. Following a champagne welcome, speeches by the Ambassador and Alan Godsave, LCCIs Regional Director were followed by presentation of the awards to Gold winner Jzsef Juhsz from Szolnok College and Silver winner Pter Simor from International Business School, Budapest. Alan also brought a message of greeting and encouragement from Adam Robinson, EDI International Business Development Manager, who was unable to be present. Before enjoying an excellent buffet lunch, attendees were provided with a product update describing the advantages for both candidates and centres of the LCCI Diploma in Business English for International Managers which it is planned to introduce to the market in 2013. The afternoon session was devoted to the annual Standardisation Meeting for English for Business Oral Examiners during which good practice examples were demonstrated and discussed. On leaving, many participants said that they were already looking forward to next year!
