Studentsshouldmovearoundtheschool buildingsinaquiet,orderlyway. 4. Ballsarenot tobecarriedaroundintheschoolbuildings.Ballsshouldbestoredintheir storagespaceinthebasketballcourt. 5. Nostudentisallowedinthecarparkduringtheschoolday. 6. Nostudentshouldleavethegarden/basketballcourtduringrecreationforanyreason(this includesretrievalofballs.Inanemergencysituation(injury,illness)thedutyteacherwill giveinstructionsastowhattodo. 7. Donoteatordrinkonthestairsorinthecorridors. 8. Donotchewgumatanytime. 9. Mobilephonesarebannedandmustbeswitchedoffandlockedawayduringschoolday. 10. IpodsshouldnotbeusedinschoolexceptbyHighschoolstudentswhocanusethemat breaktimesonly. 11. Schooluniform mustbewornatalltimesbystudentsinGrades79. Jewellery andmake upshouldnotbewornwithschooluniform. 12. Highschoolstudentsareexpectedtodressappropriatelyforschool. 13. Anycontactbetweenastudentandhomemustbemadeofficiallythroughtheschooloffice whilstastudentisinourcare.Highschoolstudentsshouldnotbecontactingtheirparents directly,usingtheirmobilephones,toaskpermissiontoleavetheschoolbuilding.

Sanctionsforfailuretoabide bytheabover ules

Failuretoabidebytheaboveruleswillresultin alunchtimedetention,usually precededbyaverbal warningfromateacher.Lunchtimedetentionswillbeimmediate(samedayornextdayas appropriate)andwilltakeplaceinanassignedclassroomwiththedetentionteacheronduty.

Everydetentionwillberecordedonadatabasebythedetentiondutyteacherincollaborationwith theteachergivingthedetention. Onaccumulationoffivedetentionsinahalfterm,parentswillbecalledintoschoolandthestudent willbeplacedonreportforoneweek.Parentsmaybewarnedearlierformoreseriousbreaches. Followingaweekonreport,parentswillbecontactedbyletterorphonetodiscussthestudents successful/unsuccessfulweek. Followingtwosessionsonreportapupilwillfacesuspension.Parentswillalwaysbegivenearly warningofthishappening.Detentionsandonreportwillberecordedonachildsreportcard. Inadditiontodetentions,itemsnotallowedinschool(mobilephones,Ipods,jewelleryetc.willbe confiscatedforaperiodoftime.Consistentconfiscationofmobilephoneswillleadtoanextended confiscationwhichwillrequireaparentcomingintocollectthem.

Seriousbr eachesofschoolr ulesleadingtosuspensionandexpulsion.

Thefollowingareseentobeseriousbreachesoftheschoolrulesandautomaticsanctionswillbe taken.Inthecaseofaneventualexpulsion *, thestudentscasewillbediscussedbythe DisciplinaryBoardwhichismadeupoftheseniormanagementteam,anelectedparent representativeandanelectedteacherrepresentative.AlldecisionstakenbytheDisciplinaryBoard willbefinal. Allstudentsfrom Grades7to11shouldbeintheirformroomat8.45amsharpeveryday wheretheattendanceregisterwillbetaken.Parentsofanystudentwhoistobeabsentorlate shouldmakecontactwiththeannex officeby8.30sothattheattendanceregistercan be amendedaccordingly. 2. Studentsarrivinglateenoughtomissregistrationinanunexpectedsituation(trafficetc)so withoutajustification,shouldgotoregisterattheannexoffice.Theywillbenotedaslate

withan L.Parentsofstudentsarrivingconsistentlylatewillbecontactedandsanctions taken. 3. Ifastudentwillnotbecomingtoschoolduetoillnessorforanyotherreason,parents shouldcalltheannex officeby8.30am orinanycaseassoonaspossibleafterthat otherwise theabsencewillbetreatedasunjustified,(Theschoolwillcontactparentsof HighSchool absenteeswhoseparentshavenotcalledinbutforsafetyandsecurityreasonsitispreferable weknowasearlyaspossiblesocollaborationisnecessary.

IBDPstudentswillhaveastaggeredtimetableandwillsigninandoutattheannex office.

EarlyExitandExitPr ocedures
Itispreferablethatstudentsdonotleaveschoolbeforelessonshaveended.Earlyexitcanonlybe permittedwithasignedparentalsignature.Phonecallsandemailscannolongerbesufficient. AnyMiddleSchool,Grade10and11studentcomingtoandfromschoolunaccompanied,must haveinitialwrittenpermissionfromaparentsentintoschoolonthefirstdayofthenewschool year.

Schooltr ipsandexcur sions

Allschoolrules,asspecifiedabove,continuetoapply whenstudentsareawayonschooltrips,both dayandresidential.Althoughaccompanyingteacherswillalwaystaketheirprofessional responsibilityveryseriously,thedisobeyingofexplicitinstructionsandconsequentunacceptable behaviouronthepartofanystudentwhichmightleadtothem puttingthemselvesand/orothersin danger,willleadtosuspensionorevenexpulsionfromtheschool.
