Why wait until the last minute to file your return?

By using the Department of Labor's Connecticut Internet Tax and Wage System
(https://wage.ctdol.state.ct.us/CTES/PG_EmployerLogin/login.aspx) you can file your return up
to 30 days before the due date. You can also take advantage of the free Electronic Funds Transfer
option to pay your taxes. Your payment may be scheduled as late as the due date of the return.
Avoid any last hour hassle trying to get your return and payment in on time - just file it and
forget it!

Please visit http://www.ctdol.state.ct.us/uitax/web-report.html for information on all the Internet

tax services available with the Connecticut Department of Labor.

Do you still file using a disk or cartridge?

To increase our efficiency, the Connecticut Department of Labor is working with employers to
stop processing any physical media (cartridges, disks etc.) after the fourth quarter 2008 filing.
The only form of magnetic media that we would like to accept by that time is a file upload using
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) through our Internet site. The file that you uploaded using FTP is the
exact same file that you are currently placing on your physical media. The only difference is how
the file is being sent to the Department of Labor. There are several advantages to your switching
to FTP:

• No postage costs to send media through mail

• No chance of media being damaged in transit
• More secure method of providing the personal information of your employees
• Email confirmation of our receipt of your quarterly filing

If you are currently filing some form of physical media, please register for our FTP service at
http://www.ctdol.state.ct.us/uitax/ftp_form1.htm.

An Important Note to Employers Who Handwrite Their Quarterly Reports:

Please use dark blue or black ink to submit handwritten reports. Reports prepared in
pencil or other colored ink cannot be scanned, and they will be returned. We scan reports
in order to capture images for record retention.

Hiring Military Veterans is Good Business!

Veterans are an invaluable resource in today’s competitive job market. They have
received some of the best training available to any workers anywhere. Their training has
taught them responsibility, leadership, accountability, and they have learned better than
most to handle stress. Their training has also taught them to motivate others to achieve
goals. All of this is a great asset to an employer.

Veterans are trained to be team players and leaders wherever and whenever the need
arises. They are taught this valuable attribute starting in basic training and it continues
throughout their military careers. They are given the tools to analyze situations, create
plans, make decisions, and they have learned to be responsible for the outcomes of their
plans and decisions

Because veterans work with such a diverse group of people, they acquire the experience
necessary to deal with many personalities and in a variety of situations. This is of
incalculable value to an employer in both the workplace and in the community.

All of the above attributes of today’s veteran are strengths that will allow Connecticut
businesses to remain competitive. Hiring a veteran is a win for the veteran, and it is a
win for our businesses, our communities, and the state of Connecticut!
