HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 124-126; 2 Corinthians 2 Monday, August 26 2 Cor. 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; Almighty Lord and Glorious Father: Keep me ever mindful about how I am writing the pages of eternity as I live today, and let me focus on that hope. Even when I pray I am often plagued with disgraceful and distracting thoughts. Help me pierce through them with the incomparable sword of your own Spirit! How grateful I am to you, my Father, that the faith you give me obliterates time, annihilates distance, and brings future things into my possession right now. Help me escape the rut of sensation and sensual perception, for the way of faith by the path of the unseen and the eternal. Make me see the invisible so I can accomplish the impossible. By faith let me see Jesus, and may his presence be so obviously realized by __________ and by __________ that they can behold his glory with my life and be saved! I thank you for the thousand ways that faith sweetens, enriches and enlarges my life. So use it also to reach others. Give me, O Lord, that faith that not only flies to heaven, but also walks with you right here. Give me the sensitivity to mourn when you are offended, and weep when your cause is wounded. Psa. 119:162 I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil. May that which is written with ink in your word be written with grace on my heart. I need to lament how often I live in the hut of doubt while you want me in the mansion of faith. Immerse me in a sea of holy confidence in you. Draw me near your Son so faith can be the control center of my life. Rid me of the fickleness of feelings and fill me with precious faith for Jesus sake! Amen. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS MIRACLES Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 127-129; 2 Corinthians 3 Tuesday, August 27 Luke 6:10 And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other. Mighty and Powerful Lord: He did so. HELP ME NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE IN PREFERENCE TO WHAT YOU COMMAND. If you ask me to stretch out my hand, then I do not need to walk across the synagogue and sit down next to you. Good as that is, it is not what you asked. Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Lord I know many people who see how the gospel tells them to trust in Jesus, but instead they attend church. Or they join church. Or even give money to church, but still do not trust Jesus. If you tell me to wash in the blood of Christ, I cannot be baptized instead. If I want to do anything else other than what you say, I have disobeyed you. Whether I feel or do not feel, I will obey. John 5:39-40 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. So many people pray, or even read their Bible, but they put that in place of simple faith and trust in Christ. It matters not how good my actions are, if they are not what you commanded. HELP ME NOT QUESTION YOU. If anyone could have contradicted you about your command, this man could have. How can I stretch forth something that is withered? You teach paradoxes and contradictions to the eye (if all I look at is the letter). But when I get down to the innermost spirit of what is said, then eternal truth and reality is found there. Help me obey the Masters command: Eph. 5:14 Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 136-138; 2 Corinthians 6 Friday, August 30 Matt. 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? Lord and Master: We are convinced you hold sway even over evil; that you bring out of it good. Whatever else we have failed in, let us not fail in faith to complete the mission! We should dread to doubt you. Do not let the Devil get so much power over us as to cause us to distrust you. May we glorify you by our faith. May we especially grab the great opportunities to glorify you that trials bring. May we count ourselves to have a high opportunity committed to us when we have the chance of displaying Christs conquest of self and our flesh. Have mercy on the lost in our community. Some of them heard your word at our church, and yet they have not put their confidence in Christ. Sadly, they are condemned already because they have not believed on the Son of God. Oh, deliver them from that greatest of sins! May they come (this very day!) to depend on Christ by faith. Help them cast their souls on you for salvation. May they begin to believe, because then they will begin to live. You will breathe peace into them. You will give them rest, and strength, and holiness. They will be more than conquerors if they will just believe in the provision you have made in Jesus. Save our unconverted friends and neighbors. Deliver them from their terrible bitterness, and from the horrible chains of dysfunction that bind them. Then deliver any of our children who have backslidden. We can think of some by name who have walked away from you, and away from our fellowship. We intercede Lord, that they might not continue in a state of unbelief. Let them come back with weeping grief, and trust you afresh for righteousness. Make our confidence strong so our peace can be like a river. Do that in Jesus name. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 130-132; 2 Corinthians 44 Wednesday, August 28 Rom. 13:13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. Gracious Father: Already I have had an assault from the enemy. Already a breakout of my corruptions. Already an attack from the world. Sometimes my foes seem to be found in my own household. In my own neighborhood. At my own office. They wound me in my own home. Before I get up from here I better put on my breastplate! I better take up my shield. I am never safe unless I am protected from head to foot by your grace! In a world like this, I do not know what might be around the corner. So, Matt. 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: The battle rages on all sides, my Savior. I need protection, 2 Cor. 6:7 By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, And I need not only armor, but the type of armor suited to my style of battle and adaptable to this type of mission. Dress my soul for service! Clothe me to be ready whatever may come. Dont let me be too dressed-up to do any work. It is morning. Clothe me to do your bidding today. Jer. 1:17 Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them. There is work to do that angels envy me at being able to accomplish. The directions are explicit about how I should march. Honestly means decently, walking as in daylight. That is the most fitting outfit. Help me walk as one who has the eye of God on me, because Gen. 16:13 Thou God seest me: SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 139-141; 2 Corinthians 7 Saturday, August 31 Psa. 18:1 I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. O Lord, My Strength: Many people are saved while discouraged and doubting, but David had such faith he could be born in adversity, fight while singing, and win the battle with a song still on his lips. Help me receive every fresh mercy with a heart grateful for mercies already enjoyed, and to anticipate new trials with confidence based on my past experience of your divine love. I hope for the best, but sometimes I fear the worst. Satan knows how to hem-in my emotions. But faith increases through exercise. Faith is wise and discerns Christ in the terrible darkness and the threatening storm. Psa. 18:27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks. I desire a grace-given righteousness in the face of all my haters, because in your plan uprightness and truth are sure to bring their own reward in the long run. Let me praise you for it even now. Help me keep the image of God so constantly in front of me that I become conformed to it! In every trial, in every temptation, the door of escape is as close as prayer. Because if my soul can contact you, will I not then be safe? Give me an inner love for righteousness as the motive for my integrity. Fill the fountain of my life with love for holiness, and then all the streams of my public walk will be pure and grace-filled. Eph. 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. You first give me holiness, then you reward me for it! Make me a vessel of honor. This comforts me, because my present sorrow is not nearly as important as your eternal future for me. Help me trust your providence more, since it is truly Jesus hand that guides me. Amen.

A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 133-135; 2 Corinthians 5 Thursday, August 29 1 Tim. 4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

STANDING by a purpose true, heeding Gods command,

Honor them, the faithful few! All hail to Daniels band! Many mighty men are lost daring not to stand, Who for God had been a host by joining Daniels band. Many giants, great and tall, stalking through the land, Headlong to the earth would fall, if met by Daniels band. Hold the Gospel banner high! On to victry grand! Satan and his hosts defy, and shout for Daniels band. Dare to be a Daniel, Dare to stand alone! Dare to have a purpose firm! Dare to make it known. Philip P. Bliss, 1873

TIMEWORSHIP Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

Every adult member should have some involvement with our kids, even if only on an intermittent or occasional basis. There is a drawing each week for a free iPod. You must be present to win!

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92

Keeping Christ at the center (your core relationship of worship to God) Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational relationship of walking with us) Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church relationship in the Word)
