Worked Example A Vessel Loaded With Bulk Cargo Having a Displacement of 40000 MT And KG: 8.5 m, FSM of Slack Tanks is 3000 tm. During Heavy Weather 2000 MT of Cargo is Shifted 10 m Horizontally and 2 m Vertically. Find The Angle of List Due to Shift of Cargo From Stability Curves Using KN Cross Curve of Stability. Heel KN 0 0 5 0.912 10 1.917 15 3.08 20 4.29 30 6.208 45 8.47

Angle of Heel 0 5 10 15 20 30 45

KN 0 0.912 1.917 3.08 4.29 6.208 8.47

GZ 0 0.165 0.428 0.861 1.357 1.921 2.407

0 0.507 0.510 0.509 0.504 0.483 0.424

To Obtaining Angle of List There Are Two Possible Ways in This Condition. 1- Draw Two Curves With Angle of Heel in The X Axis And GZ & in The Y Axis. The Point Where Two Curves Intersect Each Other is The Angle of List. 2- Draw A Curve With Angle of Heel in The Y Axis And in The X Axis. The Point Where Curve Intersect X Axis is The Angle of List.

By First Method:
3 2.5 2 1.5 1 0.5 0 0 5 10 15 20 25 Angle of Heel 30 35 40 45 50

In This Figure the Red Curve Values Are GZs and the Blue Curve Values Indicate as Described Before Where These Two Curves Intersect Each Other is The Angle of List. Which in This Case is 11.2 Degrees. By Second Method: In Below Figure the Curve Values Are and the Where The Curve Intersect X Axis is The Angle of List. Which in This Case is Same as First Method And is Equal to 11.2 Degrees.
