Beginning and Intermediate Watercolor (One-day workshop) (2013/6-PWCWS-1) (Limit 12 students) Sept. 14th, Sat. 10:00 am 4:00 pm Students are introduced to materials, tools and useful techniques, using the watercolor medium through practice exercises. Students are furnished with a basis for finding a unique way of representing objects and learning to see. Instructor: Betty Brown Drawing and Painting with Pastels 2013/6-DPWS1 - 2 day workshop (Limit 12 students) Sept. 21, Sat. 10:00 am 4:00 pm & Sept. 22, Sun. 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Drawing and painting in pastels for beginners and intermediates. Students use soft (not oil) pastels to create images from still life as well as land and seascapes from photographs. Instructor: Bonnie Rogers Watercolor painting I: Composition and Value 2013/6-WCWS1 (Limit 12 students) September 28, Saturday, 10:00 am-12:00 pm, lunch, 1:00-4:00 pm This workshop is one in a 3-part series. It can be taken alone, but represents part of an over-view of an introduction to watercolor painting at the beginner and intermediate levels. Students will be invited to participate in art duets, sketching and painting a subject in common with the instructor. Topics include seeing, not just looking, and incorporating critical detail into compositions. Exercises emphasize drawing, open vs. closed composition and value or tone. Value studies, washes with black and sepia, are used to define form and develop a visual pathway. Instructor: Fritz Kapraun Materials fee: $10 Watercolor painting II: 3-dimensional drawing and painting 2013-6-WCWS2 (Limit 12 students) October 5, Saturday, 10:00 am-12:00 pm, lunch, 1:00-4:00 pm This workshop is one in a 3-part series. It can be taken alone, but represents part of an over-view of an introduction to watercolor painting at the beginner and intermediate levels. Students will be invited to participate in art duets, sketching and painting a subject in common with the instructor. Topics include perspective and techniques to portray depth in architecture and landscapes. Instructor: Fritz Kapraun Materials Fee: $10 Watercolor painting III: color choices: color harmonies and color temperature 2013/6-WCWS3 (Limit 12 students) October 12, Saturday, 10:00 am-12 pm, lunch, 1:00-4:00 pm This workshop is one in a 3-part series. It can be taken alone, but represents part of an over-view of an introduction to watercolor painting at the beginner and intermediate levels. Students will be invited to participate in art duets, sketching and painting a subject in common with the instructor. Topics covered include color theory, harmonies and chords. Exercises include using primary triads and complements to paint architecture, still life arrangements and botanicals.

Instructor: Fritz Kapraun Materials Fee: $10 Pine Needle Basketry Basic Bine Needle Basket - 2013/6-BWS1 (Limit 12 students) Oct. 13, Sunday 12:00 4:00 pm In this 4 hour session, students learn how to make a pine needle basket, focusing on how to start, coil, and shape the wall of the piece. One small project will be completed, and another will be started during this workshop. Students will then be able to finish the second piece at home on their own. Instructor: Melanie Walter Introduction to Acrylic Painting 2013/6-PAWS1 (Limit 12 students) Oct. 19, Saturday 10:00 am 4:00 pm & Oct. 20, Sunday 10:00 am 4:00 pm Introduction to Acrylic Painting focuses on composition, color theory, and technique using acrylics. Students will develop an understanding of acrylics through a series of exercises and small paintings. A basic understanding of painting and color is helpful but not necessary. Students should bring subject matter or objects that they wish to use as subject matter for a painting. Instructor: Abby Perry
