Description
The W1915 mmWave WPAN Baseband Verification Library provides configurable IP reference transit sources for 802.11ad and 802.15.3c wireless communications physical layers operating at 60 GHz (also known as millimeter-wave WPAN), so that designers can verify baseband receiver algorithms, system architectures, and RF components. These schematics also interoperate with relevant Agilent test equipment, which ties simulation and hardware testing into a consistent, model-based design flow. The 802.11ad personality of the W1915 library is interoperable and consistent with the Agilent 81199A Wideband Waveform Center software, which is a standalone test application. While the W1915 is intended primarily for simulation-based validation of 60 GHz standards, it is also capable of interacting with test equipment, through SystemVues instrument connectivity.

Applications
Simulates system-level 802.11ad EVM and BER can include RF impairments, phase noise, fading, and interferers provides an economical alternative to challenging 60 GHz measurements in early R&D, saving valuable design time, lowering project risk, and possibly reducing equipment costs Provides a golden IP reference for C++, .m, and HDL Baseband Algorithm developers Verifies RF Transceiver performance with realistic 60GHz waveforms and scenarios, within SystemVue, or co-simulated with Agilent ADS or GoldenGate

Figure 1. The reference source and receiver models support coding and modulation consistent the IEEE 802.11ad physical layer specification, also adopted by WGA PHY release 1.1.
Figure 2. A simple closed loop BER test is performed on a simulated 60 GHz 802.11ad physical layer to validate system performance prior to hardware and vendor commitments in a video streaming application.
Figure 3. SystemVue can be used to validate realistic 60 GHz system scenarios in early R&D that would be very difficult to build and measure. For example, a CMOS RFIC PA model from Agilent Golden Gate is verified prior to tapeout.
