Parents/Carers
Provide a table, chair and a quiet place to work. Negotiate when Home Learning activities are to be done. Check the time spent on individual activity. Ensure that outside clubs do not affect the quality of work produced Check the presentation and content of all Home Learning activities being returned to school. Sign the planner each week. Provide the school with information about any problems through the student planner or by contacting the appropriate Subject Teacher/Achievement Leader directly.
Subject Teachers
Set Home Learning activities according to the Home Learning timetable. Give full and comprehensive instructions and ensure that students record home learning activities in planners Set deadlines for completed work and ensure that they are met. Mark and return all Home Learning activities promptly. Provide help and support.
Students will: Write to communicate clearly, effectively and imaginatively, using and adapting forms and selecting vocabulary appropriate to task and purpose in ways that engage the reader. Organise information and ideas into structured and sequenced sentences, paragraphs and whole texts, using a variety of linguistic and structural features to support cohesion and overall coherence. Use a range of sentence structures for clarity, purpose and effect, with accurate punctuation and spelling.
For speaking and listening: Students will select and use structures, styles and registers appropriately, adapting flexibly to a range of contexts and varying their vocabulary and expression confidently for a range of purposes and audiences. They show assured and fluent use of standard English in a range of situations and for a variety of purposes. Students will speak confidently and be able to communicate effectively throughout. Work will be assessed using the OCR grade criteria for the spoken language task. These are official controlled assessments which make up one unit of the exam and will be written in examination conditions. Differentiated skills based tasks will be given according to the needs of the groups. These include: planning ideas, planning paragraphs and researching appropriate speeches and techniques. Homework tasks and resources are available via the facultys website, BeENGspired , which can be found through the school website. Students will be encouraged to use and understand more ambitious vocabulary. Key words/devices include (and not exclusive to): Similes, metaphors, adverbs, adjectives, structure, onomatopoeia, pathetic fallacy, alliteration, personification, facts, opinions, rule of three, emotive language, statistics and repetition. The controlled assessment is divided into 3 sections. Each section is worth 30 marks, of which 6 marks are allocated for research. The research work carried out in the Summer term will account for 6 marks, and additional marks will be awarded for the development of Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS). In Business Finance, there will be an end of unit test before the Summer holiday to test elements from Year 10, and the financial document unit.
All lessons are accessible from Kingsbury Smart, so students can revise what was covered in lessons. Each unit is supported by a Word Wall, with differentiated explanation of keywords Description (D-G), Example (C-B) and importance to business (A-A*). BTEC Engineering Unit 10 (Using computer aided drawing techniques in engineering) This unit gives students the opportunity to use computer aided drawing (CAD) techniques in an engineering context. In this unit students are given the opportunity to use CAD software to represent two dimensional (2D) engineering information using industry standard methods of orthographic projection and learn how to present three-dimensional (3D) objects using isometric drawing techniques.

Students will be required to carry out two practical assessments which are accompanied with research. Controlled Assessment (16hrs) - Students will carry out a number of controlled assessments on three key topic areas. Identified pieces of Home Learning activities will be marked according to the schools/ Examination Board assessment /feedback policy and students will be made aware of this.
They need to complete a coursework around they topic they have chosen. So they can do their internet research at home along with taste testing shop bought products to help them in making the right choices for their practical.
Following on from the external exam at the beginning of this half term, you will be practising and preparing for a controlled assessment on graphic drawing. Using Fireworks, Photoshop, Serif Draw you will work through a scenario for a company called Juicin developing logos, cup mats, t-shirts and menus. You will learn about the system life cycle research, plan, design, make, test and evaluate. You will develop your creative skills through creating thematic designs, including the use of graphic drawing pads.
Year 11 PE
What will be studied this term
Practical: Preparation for GCSE Moderation. During lessons students will participate in the four sports they are going to perform for the moderator. Extra clubs after school are specifically for GCSE students to further develop their skills and abilities. Theory: Will be focusing on the muscular and skeletal systems. Students are able to relate the structure of each system to its function. Will be able to name the major bones and muscles of the body and the movement they provide. Can relate dietary impacts on each system. Understand the short and long term effects of exercise on each system and explain how to avoid diseases like Osteoporosis occurring.

As a dedicated Art student you should be creating artwork and refining your skills all the times. The more time an artist spends on honing their craft the more successful the work they produce will become. Even when homework is not set students should be working on extending their portfolio further. Assessed work must be connected to the starting point you (the students) have been given.
