OF DRIVER, VEHICLE AND THE OUTSIDE WORLD.
Every day, our world is becoming increasingly networked. Many BMW drivers, however, are better connected with than most, obtaining information
on the road, communicating by phone or email and always updated on the latest events. The term BMW ConnectedDrive* encompasses all these
services, including traffic features which enable the networking of BMW cars and their occupants with the outside world.
Convenience. Fascinating BMW ConnectedDrive innovations offer service-orientated features such as Park Assistant for even more comfortable
handling of the vehicle. It means you are always as relaxed as possible in your BMW.
Park Assistant. This option makes parallel parking easier. When
travelling below km/h, the system measures any parking gaps the
vehicle passes. When a big enough space has been identied, Park
Assistant steers while the driver operates the accelerator and brake
pedals, guided by acoustic signals and instructions in the Control
Display. It means theres no need for any awkward movement of your
head or seating position and effortless parking.
Park Distance Control, Surround View, Rear View camera. These
optional systems enhance visibility of the area around the vehicle when
manoeuvring. Park Distance Control (PDC) provides visual and acoustic
warnings to make parking easier and safer. Surround View presents an
image of the BMW as seen from above in the Control Display. The Side
View system included in this equipment option ensures better visibility
when joining a main road from a side street or exit. The Rear View camera
enhances visibility when reversing at speeds below km/h, for example
when parking.
Speed Limit Info. This optional assistance system shows the currently
applicable speed limit in the instrument cluster or the BMW Head-up
Display option. A special camera captures the relevant trafc signs and
a control unit processes the information together with data from the
navigation system. Other components, such as the cars rain sensor, are
also used. This means that the system can even pass on variable speed
limits to the driver in, for example, wet conditions.

Infotainment. This package offers technology and media functions that mean your car can provide all the entertainment and information services
you would expect of your own home or ofce.

USB/audio interface with extended functions. In combination with
the standard USB/audio interface and the original iPod USB cable, your
BMW is able to display the album cover related to the currently played
track in the Control Display for fast and convenient identication (this
function is also available for other devices). The USB/audio interface also
makes it easy to update vehicle software in your BMW via a USB stick.
This means that new mobile phones and music players can always be
fully functional.
BMW Connected App. With the Apps option, an iPhone and the free
BMW Connected App from the Apple App Store, you are always best
informed. Using the iDrive system, you can easily select web radio stations
from around the world. You can call up the latest status reports from your
Facebook or Twitter accounts and view upcoming appointments on the
Control Display, or even have them read to you through the audio systems
speakers. New features include RSS feeds for news and Wiki Local,
which allows you to source Wikipedia information on your local area.
Bluetooth and USB connectivity with added functionality
(Ofce). Use the time you spend on the road even more effectively. With
Bluetooth and USB device connectivity, incl. BMW Assist in conjunction
with a navigation systemand the intelligent integration of selected business
mobile phones
, you can use the Bluetooth connection to show Ofce

functions such as email, dates, tasks, contacts or SMS messages on the
Control Display while on the move. You can even have them read to you
via the audio speakers using the text-to-speech function. With Bluetooth
Audio Streaming, you can also enjoy wireless playback of music via
selected Bluetooth-enabled devices
.
Safety. The BMW ConnectedDrive functions in this core area comprise safety-focused services that signicantly reduce the dangers of road trafc
to driver and passengers. Features include the full-colour BMW Head-Up Display.
BMW Night Vision with Pedestrian Recognition and Acute
Warning. An optional infrared camera in the double kidney grille detects
people and animals up to a distance of metres, displaying its images
on the Control Display. Pedestrian recognition also gives a visual warning
to indicate if people are moving close to the road, up to a distance of
metres ahead. This means that the driver can recognise potential
danger signicantly earlier and react more quickly. The new Acute Warning
system helps in imminently critical situations, thereby offering even
greater safety.
Lane Departure Warning and Lane Change Warning (both
optional). At speeds above around km/h, Lane Departure Warning
registers lane markings ahead, up to a distance of metres. If the
vehicle threatens to move out of lane, the system warns the driver with
a slight vibration of the steering wheel. If the driver has activated the
indicator meaning that the lane change is intentional no warning is
given. The Lane Change Warning system alerts the driver with a visual
signal in the wing mirror if there is a vehicle in the blind spot or approaching
fast from behind.
High-Beam Assistant. The optional High-Beam Assistant detects
sources of light in the vehicles vicinity and switches between high and
low beam according to the trafc situation. When the system is active, an
image sensor behind the interior mirror monitors trafc and light conditions.
Based on these sensor images, the assistant function decides whether or
not the high beam should be switched on. When it detects vehicles ahead,
or nds that ambient light is sufcient, the high beam is switched to low
again.
Full-colour BMWHead-Up Display. The optional BMWfull-colour
Head-Up Display uses a multi-colour TFT display to project important
driving information onto the windscreen, in the driver's direct eld of
vision. Information displayed includes current road speed and navigation
instructions. The availability of more colours makes it easier to distinguish
general driving information such as speed limits from warnings such as
pedestrian on the road (optional with BMW Night Vision). The display
ensures that your eyes are always on the road ahead, making driving safer.

The new BMW Series Gran Coup presents a wide range of technologies to enhance the enjoyment of every drive. Many are intelligently
networked, so you can enjoy sheer driving pleasure in the greatest possible safety.
xDrive.
The BMW i Gran Coup remains stable, on
track and adapts to even the most difcult road
situations thanks to the intelligent all-wheel-drive
option xDrive and Dynamic Stability Control
(DSC). xDrive distributes drive power between
the vehicles axles in fractions of a second for
optimum roadholding. In this way, the system
combines the advantages of an all-wheel-drive
vehicle traction, directional stability and safety,
even in bad weather with the agility typical of
the BMW Series.
Integral Active Steering.
This option combines steering rear wheels with
a variable steering-transmission ratio on the front
axle. At up to km/h, the rear wheels steer in
the opposite direction to the front wheels. This
creates the effect of virtually shortening the
wheelbase and thus improves manoeuvrability,
agility, stability and comfort. From about km/h,
the rear wheels steer in the same direction as
the front wheels (not available in conjunction
with xDrive).
Adaptive Drive.
The Adaptive Drive option combines the two
active chassis control systems, Dynamic Drive
and Dynamic Damper Control. The latter, tted
as standard, includes individually adjustable
settings for the shock absorbers. And, with its
active anti-roll bars on the front and rear axles,
Dynamic Drive ensures that rocking motion is
reduced to a barely perceptible minimum for
even more relaxed travel or undisturbed work.
Dynamic Damper Control.
This system allows the driver to adapt the shock
absorber characteristics to the driving situation.
There are three programmes in addition to the
Comfort standard setting. The shock absorbers
give a soft ride in the Comfort+ setting, reducing
motion of the car to a minimum, especially on
bumpy roads. The Sport and Sport+ settings
set the shock absorbers to a rmer position, for
an exciting, sporty ride.
Driving Experience button,
incl. ECO PRO mode.
This allows drivers to individually adapt drive
and transmission components to the desired
prole. The settings are Sport, Sport+, Comfort,
Comfort+ and ECO PRO. With the latter, throttle
and transmission characteristics are optimised,
while heating and climate systems are intelligently
adapted. ECO PRO tips also provide advice on
fuel-efcient driving. Activating ECO PRO mode
optimises fuel consumption and displays the
additional kilometres achieved through efcient
driving as bonus range in the on-board computer.
Eight-speed Sport automatic transmission.
This standard feature adjusts itself to your
driving style. The range extends from
comfortably gliding over the road to a very
dynamic driving style. You change gear using
the gearshift lever or gearshift paddles on
the Sport leather steering wheel. The shift
sequences are set up for best performance
in the Sport mode. Optimised clutch control
allows very rapid rotational speed transitions
and hence minimal shift times. Acceleration
is optimised through the close ratios of all
eight gears, at the same time giving the best
possible efciency and gearchange comfort.

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). Sensors constantly monitor
driving status and, as necessary, modify directional stability and traction
by intervening in the engine and brake management systems. In addition,
the new BMW has Hill-Start assistant, which prevents the car rolling back
on an incline for . seconds after the driver releases the brake. This
makes control of the car easier, even under difficult circumstances. In this
way, safety and driving pleasure are actively enhanced.
Dynamic Traction Control (DTC). This special mode within
Dynamic Stability Control offers previously unheard of traction in even
the most dynamic driving situations. Activated with a press of the
button, the traction mode allows increased wheel slip and, thanks to
controlled rotation of the tyres, improves grip on snow or sand. DTC
delays intervention of the Dynamic Stability Control system, even on
tarmac, and allows controlled drifting for an even more intense driving
experience.
Runat tyres. With reinforced sidewalls, the tyres do not collapse
completely and remain on the rim, even if they have lost all of their air.
This means you can drive safely to the nearest garage. The Run Flat
Indicator warns if you have suffered a puncture: a slight pressure drop is
indicated by a light in the cockpit and a severe loss of pressure triggers an
audible warning.
Xenon lights for high and low beam include automatic headlight
range control for signicantly better illumination of the road at night, in
poor weather or low light. The four LED light rings, with daytime running
light function, can also be used as parking lights. The optional Adaptive
headlights with variable light distribution (illustrated) provide optimum
illumination in bends. The cornering lights in the two inner headlights,
included in the option, are activated automatically when the indicator is
used or the steering wheel is turned, even if the vehicle is not moving.

Active headrests instantly reduce the distance to the head in the
event of a collision and thus limit possible whiplash injuries.
Body stiffness. The targeted use of high-strength multi-phase
steels and aluminium create very high rigidity values in the body and
ensure outstanding crash protection.
BMW restraint system for the driver and front passenger. A
combination of a three-point seat belt, pyrotechnical belt latch tensioner
and belt force limiter ensures the best possible restraint in a collision.
Airbags and all other safety components for the driver, front passenger
and rear occupants are perfectly coordinated in a BMW. Six airbags offer
comprehensive protection: driver and front passenger airbags plus head
and side airbags in the front. Even pedestrians are better protected thanks
to the active bonnet.

Lane Departure Warning system
with camera-based Approach
Warning uses a camera to detect if
the vehicle is getting close to road
markings and warns the driver via slight
vibration on the steering wheel.
Lane Change Warning system. When the indicator is switched on to signal
the intention to change lanes, this systemrecognises a vehicle in the drivers blind
spot or a vehicle approaching at high speed in the overtaking lane and warns the
driver through vibration on the steering wheel and a visible signal in the exterior
mirror casing.
Rear View camera
shows the area behind the car clearly in the Control

Display. Interactive guidelines indicate, for example, if a parking space is large
enough for the vehicle. The Rear View camera is automatically activated when
reverse gear is engaged.
Park Distance Control (PDC), front and rear, facilitates parking and
manoeuvring in conned spaces, giving acoustic signal and optical signals in the
Control Display to indicate the distance between the car and an obstacle.
Park Assistant
facilitates parallel parking. The systemmeasures parking

spaces when travelling at speeds below km/h. When a space is found,
the systemtakes over the steering while the driver assists the manoeuvre by
accelerating and braking. The sensor is seamlessly integrated in the side
indicator.
Full-colour BMWHead-Up Display presents driving-related information,
such as current speed, directly into the drivers eld of vision. All information of
the BMWHead-Up Display can be projected in full-colour making it even more
precise and easier to recognise. Navigation information, Lane Departure Warning
incl. camera-based Approach Warning functions, Speed Limit Info incl. No-overtaking
