safe and environmentally

Rhodiasolv RPDE
Rhodiasolv RPDE is ideal to dissolve polar substrates such as resins,

coatings and inks.

Rhodiasolv RPDE is suitable for a wide range of applications.

Paint formulations
Coil coating Can coating Polyester and epoxy sealing coat Industrial paint

Cleaning and stripping applications

Paint stripping Polyurethane resin clean-up Polyester resin clean-up Graffiti removers

Resins for foundry cores

Solvent for resin core binders

Formulations
Liquid detergents Pesticides and insecticides Textile lubricants Corrosion inhibitors Printing inks

Example of substitution:
For cleaning or stripping,
Rhodiasolv RPDE used alone or formulated can substitute methylene chloride which is classified R40 (possible risks of irreversible effects). For coil coating, Rhodiasolv RPDE can be used to substitute isophorone or glycol ether in order to reduce the impact on the environment of this application. In foundry applications, Rhodiasolv RPDE is an excellent and safe solvent to formulate resin core binders.

Rhodiasolv DIB
Rhodiasolv DIB is ideal for degreasing applications. Rhodiasolv DIB is stable is waterborne systems. Rhodiasolv DIB is an excellent coalescing agent for paint formulations.

Degreasing of non polar residues

With lower polarity and branched structure, Rhodiasolv DIB provides superior performance for greases and oils removal Hydrolytically stable, Rhodiasolv DIB can be formulated in waterborne degreasers

Coalescing agent for paints

High-performance coalescing aid Low-odor and low VOC properties Excellent tox/ecotox profile High stability in paints

Aqueous systems Rhodiasolv DIB can be emulsified in aqueous cleaners

Example of substitution:
Coalescing agent for paints:
Rhodiasolv DIB provides excellent coalescing properties to paint formulations with a clear benefit in odor and VOC reductions. Rhodiasolv DIB can be used in metal degreasing applications. Its low volatility leads to a safer workplace.

Excellent toxicological

and ecotoxicological properties

Toxicological data
Toxicity studies performed on Rhodiasolv RPDE have shown only a low acute toxicity for both oral and dermal routes, no cutaneous irritation, and only minimal and transient ocular irritation potential, as measured under the test conditions. These data and other published studies on dimethyl esters blends indicate that no classification is required according to the criteria of the directive 67/548/EEC. Summary of the experimental results are available upon request.

Ecotoxicological data
Biodegradability Study BD A17 shows the complete and rapid biodegradability of Rhodiasolv RPDE. In test conditions (AFNOR T90-312, ISO 7827, OECD 301A), at 18 days, the percentage of biodegradability of Rhodiasolv RPDE is 97%. Aquatic ecotoxicity test IC50 Daphnia magna/24h = 180 mg/l or Rhodiasolv RPDE.

Safe solvents for now and tomorrow

Rhodiasolvs are not classified as dangerous to the environment nor to health, according to the criteria of European directive 67/548/ EEC. Rhodiasolvs are not regulated according to the criteria of the national and international regulations of dangerous goods transport. Rhodiasolvs could be a very good alternative to ensure compliance with council directive 1999/13/CE of March 11, 1999 related to the reduction of volatile organic compounds emissions.
