Dear Friends in Christ:

We moved, from Champaign to Chicago, Illinois. I am continuing the ministry with the Korean Church there. We had lost more than half the membership at the end of the last

school year (as you know, the graduates must move after their employments). But in September, we gained it back, by more

than 100%. What congregation do you know that loses 50% of membership and gains it back by 100%, and still remain about

the same in size?

We rejoice for the new comers.

We praise

the Lord and his love.

The congregation and I are in search of a minister to replace me. Who will serve in a situation that is full of opportunity with least financial compensa

tion, must preach in a sophisticated language to a group of intelligent, intel lectually inquisitive but financially poverty stricken graduate students? Some might think that I am running away from this highly-demanding and least-paying
job. That might be the hidden case. But in good conscience I am not aware of They need the qospel.

13, is the fifth member of our family. Mr. Jaikwan Ahn, my colleaque in the Korea Christian Seminary, and his wife are headed for Korea to work with the seminary and related missionary projects. They had earlier ran against the wall of problems because of jumping from one language situation to another reqarding
their children's education. So, they are leaving their oldest child, Esther, with a family in Lincoln, Illinois, and Joe with us. He fits perfectly in between

Midong (15, freshman in high school) and Sundong (11, fifth grade).
Joe will naturally miss his parents and his parents their son. But we pray and work together for a greater future of the Kingdom of God, thus, we are com forted of pains involved in temporary separation.
SINCE WE MOVED TO CHICAGO

Missionary Meetings. We had some busy days of unpacking those disarrayed household things. Then the speaking engagements. On one Lord's day we left here early in the morning, drove to Bourbonnais, Illinois, preached in the mornina

worship service (imagine, we were late getting there by 30 minutes because of

misreading of schedule but the congregation had graciously switched the Bible

school with the worship to give us a chance).

Then, after a delicious ootlock

dinner, we drove to Champaicjn. The Korean Church had a large number of new attendants for worship and fellowship. Then, we drove back to Bourbonnais for evening worship. Vie returned home in Chicago. It an hour after midnight.

A Place to Meet. One block south of our residence is an Rvanqelical Lutheran Church of Saint Philip (Missouri Synod), I went to see the pastor Victor Rickman. The parish has a school right across the street with 270 pupils enrolled from

kindergarten to 8th grade. One of the classroom would be ideal for our initially
small group. The pastor listened to me graciously and assured me that he would present our reguest to the Commission on Property, and if the coimission approves

it, it will be presented to the Church Board which meets on September 18th.

Mr. Keunsuk Park, 55, works for the

State of Illinois. He has been suffer

ing pain around abdomen, two cancerous

growth. Close to death sentence, deeply distressed, Mr. Park felt a fading will to live. His youngest son is an 18-year old senior in high school, an avid athlete in Taikwando, tennis, wrestling and an honor student. Seeing one day his father, being exhausted from pulling weeds out in a backyard garden and retire into his room, Insoon went out, pulled all the weeds, "Father," he said, "I pulled all the weeds in your garden. Everytime I pulled out one, I prayed that God would pull out cancer from your body." Tears welled up in Mr. Park's impaled eyes, rushed into another room. Love, joy, and hope prevailed his heart. Mr. & Mrs. Park were baptized into
Jesus Christ through confessing him as their Savior.
