My Wonder for this week is about being creative with technology. I would like to know how creative I can be teaching a class of first graders using technology.

The wow factor that i really enjoyed was seeing that teachers are now supposed to organize their curriculum around topics that students will find meaningful so they are not just memorizing facts and not really taking anything in. Not only is this material supposed to be meaningful and interesting to the students but it is also supposed to be important to the subject being taught. After reading about the teaching for understanding method i am wondering how many schools are doing this and how it is helping the students.

My "wow" would have to be the friends I've made because of the group work. I never would have known about these individuals or that we could be such good friends. I do wonder what was meant by looking back at the definitions and pictures, my mind is set in its ways, so I don't think my opinion of such things will change.

So my WOW for the day is that I was shocked that we used Harry Potter for a source of learning. My wonder would have to be why would you choose the word "creative" when teaching understanding and learning? The terms understanding and learning go hand in hand with each other while being creative sort of stands alone.
