1. Course Description and Objectives The course Organizational Behavior I taught in the last trimester dealt with how people, both as individuals and groups in organizations behave. This course is that part of organizational behavior that explains and explores the ways in which the organizations must design themselves to utilize the available human resource optimally. This course examines the structural properties of the organization and also emphasizes on the design options that managers must choose in order to respond to the individual predispositions of managers, technological innovations, uncertainty of environment and the emergent need for organizational change. The process part provides dynamism and momentum to the structural framework. The main objective of this course is to acquaint the future managers with the structures and cultures of various kinds of operating organizations. This era of unprecedented change, where change is the only permanent thing has necessitated the re-examination of the purpose and ways in which businesses are conducted. For this understanding the students first need to have strong fundamentals, so that they can better perceive the required changes and act accordingly in the organization. 2. Pedagogy Topic related research articles to be provided. Cases will be discussed with the modules as applicable. Class room quiz. Take home assignments.
