Q1. Why did you choose this topic?

Ans- Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in Indian women. The average incidence rate varies from 22-28 per 100,000 women per year in urban settings to 6 per 100,000 women per year in rural areas. Due to rapid urbanization and westernization of lifestyles, there is a rising incidence of breast cancer in India. However, most women today are unaware of self examination techniques due to which the cancer spreads to different parts of the body such as lumph nodes, lungs etc and thus can be fatal for the woman. We feel this cause needs immediate attention for the health and well-being of a woman Q2. How are women suffering from it? Ans- Breast cancer is the second most popular cancer in women after cervical cancer. In case of timely diagnosis the cancer can be removed by surgery either through mastectomy of through lumpectomy. Radiation and Chemotherapy are often performed after the surgery so as to prevent it from recurring. However if the cancer is is diagnosed at the 3rd or 4th stage,it can prove to be fatal as it may have spread to different parts of the body. Hence we feel that this is one cause which may affect the health of a woman both physically and emotionally.

Ans- a) We would put up posters relating to self examination and vaccinations for breast cancer both in our school and respective localities. b) we would pitch in a gynecologist to come and address our school on this issue c) We would collaborate with a hospital for free medical check-up and campaign in a village. We have convinced Rockland hospital for the same d) we would hold a Walk to fight breast cancer at a frequently visited tourist spot such as Qutab Minar or India Gate

e) We would use social media to our advantage and spread awareness among the youth by holding interactive sessions or voting polls on websites like Facebook,Twitter etc. Q4. What are the 5 innovative ideas you have for this cause except awareness? a) We will pitch in a gyneacologist to check the didis in our school and teach them self examination techniques. b) We will take up a village in NCR and conduct a health campaign there with the help of a gyneacologist (I cant think of anything else!) Q5. Why do women related causes need awareness? Ans- Our society has been a patriarchal one since time immemorial. Needs of women have been ignored for long. Practices such as dowry, female foeticide, child marriages etc have buried the future of girl child. According to a recent survey, most Indian teenage girls are anemic due to lack of nutrition and care. We feel that a womans health is of utmost importance in the society because only a healthy woman would give birth to a healthy child and this would lead to a virtuous cycle with healthy individuals who can work to the best of their capabilities bring glory to Mother India.
