There are four different forms of Home Guard: L.D.V.

Dates: 14 May - 22 July 1940 Relatively poorly armed more observers than combatants possibly out of scope. Interesting because of the Spanish War vets that hadn't been sidelined yet. Home Guard 22 July 1940 - 3 December 1944, Disbanded 31 December 1945 Will change composition armaments and role over the course of the war I see two sub variants the names are place holders need better terminology: Country Yeoman your older WWI vets leavened with under aged boys (no idea how many farmers blacksmiths and other country men were left on the land. - more research required here.) Townsmen - Reserved Occupations Ship builders, factory workers and the like. Fit men often in the prime of life again with some older vets and younger boys Dad's Army Your Walmington on Sea caricature has lots of room for more comedic elements like onion cannon and Jones' Close Combat prowess. Auxiliary Units Probably well out of scope given their stay behind role and organization. Might be useful as supports to more conventional HG units. Organization: As per UK infantry platoon with fewer heavy weapons. Early on the shot gun will take the place of the Thompson or Sten. May only have one LMG per platoon and that may be a BAR or Lewis. AT weapons will be mostly Molotovs, Hawkins mines and sticky bombs. Very few AT guns outsdie of designated bunkers until mid to late war. And as a late addition: Home Forces These could be British or Empire troops stationed in England may be even Free French or Poles etc. Again probably most useful as supports. Maybe that Canadian unit up the road can send a RAM tank to help out.

The lists below reflect the same costs as used for regular units. The case can be made that for any conventional support item, the HG cost should be one bracket higher. Home Guard Support List List -1 Croft's Pikes. A section equipped with pikes fights in hand to hand normally but cannot fire. For each section so equipped, gain 1 support point. List One Sticky Bomb or similar Minefield Dinner Plate Mines two units of fake mines. Cleared by any foot unit coming into contact. Barbed Wire Barbed Wire obstacle can be opened or closed as an action. Stops infantry and first soft vehicle to hit it but not tracked. Entrenchments for one Team Medical Orderly Bed sheet. Must be strung between two buildings, trees or similar supporting structures. Blocks line of sight until crossed by any enemy unit. List Two AntiTank rifle Team, 2 men Portable Flamethrower Team, 3 men (based on German) two men for HG with less move? Roadblock (dragons teeth type) AT socket mines. A bridge or under pass is equipped with sockets to hold AT mines held nearby. A senior leader may activate a designated team to secretly deploy the mines. They are not marked on the table. Once deployed, they will be detected but not detonated by enemy foot units and detonated by enemy or friendly vehicles passing over them. The are equipped with anti lift triggers and can only be removed by engineers as per the normal rules. The explosion will render the bridge or under pass unusable by vehicles on a 4+ on a d6.

List Three Sniper Team Portable Flamethrower Team (British cost), 3 men two men for HG? Truck, bus or delivery van capable of transporting one section. Un-armoured List Four Regular Vickers MMG on tripod mount, 5 crew Regular Infantry Squad with Junior Leader Forward Observer and 3 mortar battery

40mm Bofors Gun, 5 crew with Junior Leader. This HG unit also crews an AA gun. Improvised armoured vehicle.

List Five Older Field gun with crew List Six List Seven List Eight List Nine List Ten List Eleven List N I've been to Bisley you know - Sniper Team with superior weapons (Scoped Ross, civilian target rifles from the US) +1 on initial shot, maybe limitations on movement range (9) when redeploying. Village Gossip. HG unit gains one extra patrol marker but optionally, patrol marker movement is limited to 9 because of the slower pace of village life. Not from around here. When deploying jump off points, the HG player can deploy into otherwise valid cover closer to the patrol marker than 6. This represents the intimate knowledge of local terrain these units would have. I know this bloke... Scrounging - All HG sections (orjust one section) have one Hawkins mine or Sticky bomb per man, or a single satchel charge. I know this other bloke... Scrounging 2 All HG units can throw 4 consecutive grenades before running out. It fell off the back of a lorry... Scrounging 3 - Add any one support weapon from any other formation's list from any nationality that is in the UK at the time of this battle. e.g. UK any time, Canadians in 40+, US in 42+. The cost is 1.5x the original support points I'll put you through now... Any leader in a residential building can contact any unit under its command that is also in a residential building. Possible limitation: as long as enemy does not control a designated switch board building and/or destroy telephone lines (which should therefore be modelled) Fougasse One shot flame mine as short range flamethrower hit. Milk Churn Mine Old School IED satchel charge Milk Churn Looks just like a milk churn mine but doesn't explode. Maybe combine 2 or 3 of these with the Milk Churn Mine as one support package. HG player either designates which one is real at the start of the game or detonates one and only one of his/her choice during the game. Sing the Internationale one last time Comrades! One section is made up of Spanish civil war

veterans. This section goes up one quality level. Optional diehard if German deploys SS. Clarke cannon. Location and direction of fire must be specified at start of game. Need not be placed on board until discharged or spotted by enemy.

I have a special job for you my lad... Aux unit activates in support. Make one sniper attack against an off board leader. I've been to see the post-mistress Aux unit activates in support. Add one diehard elite demolition team. - Might not work given how engineers are handled in the rules currently. May be better as a tank hunting team with a demolition charge(s) or a one shot mine that craters a road, drops trees to block a road or drops a building - may be behind the enemy jump off zone.
