These regulations should be read in conjunction with the Institutes Academic Regulations, clause 2 General Programme Regulations.

Admission, Entry and Selection 1.1 Candidates are required to either: 1.1.1 have gained a degree conferred by a New Zealand tertiary education institution, or 1.1.2 have gained a New Zealand Qualifications authority (NZQA) recognised degree from an overseas tertiary institution, or demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the Head of School/Centre Director, equivalent practical, professional or educational experience of an appropriate kind. Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test Score (IELTS) of 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in the written band.

Transfer of Credit 2.1 Applications for transfer of credit will be considered on a case by case basis by the Programme Committee.

3.

Programme Requirements 3.1 Every candidate for the Graduate Diploma in Business Studies shall to the satisfaction of the Academic Board follow a programme of study for a period of normally not less than one year. 3.2 Each candidates programme of study shall comprise the compulsory and elective modules selected from the lists in section 5 of these regulations, totalling 120 credits of which at least 72 credits must be at level 7, as follows: 3.3 Candidates for the Graduate Diploma in Business without endorsement are required to complete the compulsory module in Group A (or one elective if exempt from this module) and 7 other elective modules from Group B. 3.6 Candidates for the Graduate Diploma in Business with endorsement in Human Resource Management are required to complete the compulsory module in Group A (or one elective at level 5 if exempt from this module) and all the compulsory modules in Group C. 3.7 Candidates for the Graduate Diploma in Business with endorsement in Marketing are required to complete the compulsory module in Group A (or one elective at level 5 if exempt from this module) and all the compulsory modules in Group D.

3.8 Candidates for the Graduate Diploma in Business with endorsement in Accounting are required to complete modules which meet the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (NZICA) requirements, as provided by NZICA from any of the groups in section 5. 3.9 Every candidate must achieve a minimum result of 40% in the final examination for each module, where a final examination exists, in order to pass the module.

Award of the Qualification 4.1 Candidates who successfully complete the programme requirements as specified in section 3 of these regulations will receive the award of the Graduate Diploma in Business Studies.

Schedule of Modules Group A - Compulsory Module for all students Candidates who enter the programme via section 1.1.1 are exempt from this module and will be required to select one further module from the list of electives.
