the Snohomish County Parks and Recreation System. The Bailey family, historic homesteaders, originally owned the land and used it for timber harvest and later for farming. It was acquired for use as a regional stormwater detention facility and to provide flood control, but it also offers a rich habitat for a variety of birds, mammals and amphibians. Throughout the year, pedestrians take advantage of the through park boardwalk that provides an excellent vantage point to view this rich and diverse environment.
