KENYA LAND ALLIANCE VACANCY:LAND CONFLICT TRANSFORMATION OFFICER

Kenya Land Alliance (KLA), an umbrella network of civil societies and organizations working in the land sector in Kenya, seeks to recruit a dynamic individual for the position of a Land Conflict Transformation Officer. The Land Conflict Transformation Officer will contribute to the joint project of KLA and Civil Peace Service, GIZ, aiming at strengthening the conflict sensitive implementation of the devolution process, especially on the field of Land Reform.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Design and conduct training on all areas of conflict transformation, including Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms (ADR) and conflict analysis 2. Originate fund-raising proposals for the Land Conflict transformation project 3. Design training materials on all areas of conflict transformation and conflict analysis; 4. Design a tracking and reporting tool for analyzing (land) conflicts in Kenya 5. Mainstream conflict sensitive approach in all KLA land reform implementation activities; 6. Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly reports on conflict assessments and other assignments; 7. Any assignment given by the KLA Management; 8. All duties and responsibilities are to be accomplished in close coordination with the International Advisor seconded by Civil Peace Service, GIZ.

REQUIRED TRAINING/ SKILLS:


QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of a university degree in social sciences (Candidates with training in Conflict Transformation, Peace Building will have an added advantage); At least two years experience working in the areas of conflict transformation, peace building or dispute resolution; Experience in interacting with government agencies and the players in the natural resource sector will be an added advantage.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Strong communication skills, both interpersonal and written, to fulfill the diverse technical and managerial requirements of the project and to effectively coordinate with a wide range of local stakeholders; proven ability to develop and communicate a common vision among diverse partners and the ability to lead teams; Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity; Experience in the design, management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of donor funded projects with skills in strategic planning, management, supervision, reporting, budgeting; and Fluency in written and spoken Kiswahili and English is required
