BRIEF CV

WAN AZMAN SAINI WAN NGAH

zman-Saini, W.N.W (Wan Azman Saini Wan Ngah) joined the Department of Economics, Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2000. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from University of Southampton, United Kingdom in 2009. Prior to that, he received his Master of Economics from Universiti Putra Malaysia and his Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwood University, United States. Currently, Azman-Saini conducts research on foreign direct investment, research and development, and institutional quality. He explores how domestic conditions affect the transfer of knowledge across countries. He has authored 4 academic modules, 6 chapters in books, and has published over 30 refereed journal articles. His publications can be found in Journal of Banking and Finance (Elsevier) Emerging Markets Finance and Trade (ME Sharpe) Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy (Routledge) Economic Modelling (Elsevier), Economics Letters (Elsevier), Applied Economics (Routledge), Applied Economics Letters (Routledge), South African Journal of Economics (WileyBlackwell), Journal of Asia-Pacific Business (Routledge) and other academic journals. His article entitled Foreign direct investment, economic freedom and economic growth: International Evidence published in Economic Modelling has been ranked in the Top 25 Hottest Article category since its publication in September 2010. This marks the evidence of the importance of his contribution to society. Apart from research, he involves actively in student supervisions. He has successfully supervised 20 Master students and 24 Bachelor students. Currently, he is supervising 5 PhD students and 4 master students. He also holds various administrative posts such as coordinator for postgraduate program, head of economics department and members of various important committees in the faculty. For his academic achievements, his biography has recently been included in the Whos Who in the World, 30th Pearl Anniversary Edition 2013 and 11th edition of Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering. He was also awarded the Top 100 Educators in the World Award by the International Biography Centre, United Kingdom.
