2. Short description of the visits

Monday 14th January 2013 First day of the program was started with the presentation in Miejskie Przedsibiorstwe Energetyki Cieplnej S.A. w Krakowie (municipal company for heating in Krakow). The company belongs entirely to the City of Krakow and is responsible for delivering heat to local customers as well as extension of the infrastructure. The presentation was about effectiveness of central heating energy transfer. The participants, especially the German partners, were requested for more information concerning this topic.

Next meeting was organised in Skadowisko odpadw komunalnych Barycz (municipal dump of Krakow).

Skadowisko Barycz produces electrical and heat energy from biogas. The biogas is produced from natural process of fermentation in the dump. Four engines produce 1341 kW of energy per hour that is used for the needs of all the equity set on the dump. The problem that the managers of the dump have to face now is connected with change of legislation. Nowadays the law does not agree for storing biomass on the dump. So the level of biogas energy production will gradually decrease there.

The last point of the first day was connected with biogas production in Centrum Gospodarki Wodnociekowej S.A. in Tychy (Silesian Region).

The sewage treatment plant has 3 engines that produce 1,2 MW energy from biogas being the waste of fermentation process.

Tuesday 15th January 2013 The second day started with the discussion between partners about the biomass plant operator curriculum and the way of finalising the work with it. The agreements of discussion were described in the point 1. The last part of the meeting in Poland was organised in Zakopane in Centrum Szkoleniowo-Formacyjnym Ksiwka where was shown the installation of the furnace. It is fully automated technology producing energy from wooden pellets and chips. The furnace produces 500kW of heating energy.
