A Resolution Adopting the 2013 Xavier Congress Resolution Entitled, A Resolution Requesting the Various Academic Departments in the University to Secure the Availability of the Subjects Offered by the Respective Departments Prior to Enrolment
WHEREAS, stated in Article III, Section 1, of the 2005 XU-CSG Constitution, the XU-CSG shall be the highest seat of student governance of Xavier University. Its officers shall represent its constituents in all university bodies and other association, both within and outside of the campus, which directly affect the students welfare and interests. WHEREAS, stated in Article IV, Section 1, of the 2005 XU-CSG Constitution, the XU-CSG shall represent XU students on matters pertaining to their general interest and welfare in the areas of: 1.1. Academics 1.2. Students Rights and Services 1.3. Spiritual Formation and Social Development 1.4. Physical Enhancement 1.5. Extra-Curricular Affairs. WHEREAS, last 24 to 25 August 2013, the Central Student Government conducted the 2013 Xavier Congress, a gathering of all Student Representatives from the different sectors in Xavier University undergraduate College Councils, the Assembly of Extra-Curricular Organizations, the United Religious Organizations, the Xavier Center for Culture and Arts, the Kristohanong Katilingban sa Pagpakabana, and the community of scholars and student assistantsto talk about issues and matters concerning the welfare of the university community and to make a stand. WHEREAS, stipulated in Article III, Section 3.5, of the Magna Carta of Students Rights and Responsibilities for Undergraduate Students of Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, students academic freedom shall consist of but not limited to the following rights To resort to procedures for the redress of their grievances concerning teachers, grades, class policies and other academic-related matters.

WHEREAS, the 2013 Xavier Congress had passed a resolution entitled, A Resolution Requesting the Various Academic Departments in the University to Secure the Availability of the Subjects Offered by the Respective Departments Prior to the Enrolment. WHEREAS, stated in the Enrolment Procedures of the 2013 Xavier UniversityAteneo de Cagayan Student Handbook, (2.1) students are responsible for observing proper sequence in their respective curricula. To this end, they are required to secure the updated list of all the subjects prescribed by their curriculum before enrolling. WHEREAS, stipulated in Article VI, Section 1, of the Magna Carta of Students Rights and Responsibilities for Undergraduate Students of Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, the students have the right to access official and public information on matters directly affecting their welfare. WHEREAS, stipulated in Article IV, Section 7, of the Magna Carta of Students Rights and Responsibilities for Undergraduate Students of Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, students have the responsibility to be cognizant of the information provided by the university on academic and other concerns through various offices/ venues that provide such information. WHEREAS, stipulated in Article IV, Section 8, of the Magna Carta of Students Rights and Responsibilities for Undergraduate Students of Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, students have the responsibility to maximize the benefits that may be derived from the academic programs of the university. WHEREAS, there are instances during the enrolment that students are delayed in the process because the subjects of a particular academic termas stated in the prospectus presented to them upon admission to the collegeare not available on the date of their year levels enrolment. Thus, they need to enroll again another date of another year level making the enrolment process more tedious and congested. WHEREAS, it is inconvenient for students to return to their respective college administrations on another enrolment day to check whether the subject is available or the department offers another subject that

would serve as an alternative to the subject prescribed in the curriculum. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, this resolution takes effect upon the approval of 2/3 of the Directorate members, sitting en banc, and thus adopts the resolution passed by the 2013 Xavier Congress entitled, A Resolution Requesting the Various Academic Departments in the University to Secure the Availability of the Subjects Offered by the Respective Departments Prior to Enrolment.
