We HAVE DIVIDED INTO 3 CLASSES. I TEACH 6TH GRADE AND IST YEAR Jr. Hi. For the higher grades Wan Chai teaches the returning stu dents AND In KeAN has the NEW ONES. This year there were 10 Senior Hi students that came in NEW/ as well as several IN Jr. Hi years 2 and 3. Usually the FIRST year Jr. Hi are the only
NEW ONES entering.
Testings always come. Jakrapong> the intern at Development village spent his FIRST MONTH UNDER THE WEATHER WITH HEPATITIS. It WAS A DISCOURAGING TIME FOR HIM;
BUT HE IS WORKING HARD NOW TEACHING READING TO THOSE WHO WANT TO LEARN AND START
ING TO TRAIN SOME OF THE OTHER MEN TO LEAD SERVICES. ETC. ThERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT HE WILL BE TEACHING IN THE REFUGEE CAMP TWO DAYS A WEEK. A PASS HAS TO BE GRANTED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR.
GIRL'S HOME OF REFUGE Recently some funds became available through another missionary in this area to START a girls' HOME OF REFUGE FOR THOSE IN DANGER OF BEING SOLD INTO PROSTITUTION. Teacher Boriboon has been burdened for this and offered to help build the home and OVERSEE IT. I HAVE BEEN ASKED TO SERVE ON THE BOARD ALONG WITH THE MISSIONARY AND TWO Thai pastors. Boriboon is the chairman. It will open August 31st with 3 or 4 GIRLS AND CAN INCREASE TO 10 OR MORE GIRLS. ThE ^ GIRLS ARE 5tH AND 6tH GRADERS.
A RECENT REPORT ON AIDS AMONG PROSTITUTES IN THIS AND ChIENGRAI PROVINCE SAID THAT
PLEASANTVILLE DORM
PrASAN. THE YaO EVANGELIST. HAS STARTED A SMALL DORM FOR BOYS AND GIRLS IN GRADE SCHOOL AT PLEASANTVILLE. ThERE ARE NINE THIS YEAR AND THEY COME FROM VILLAGES THAT HAVE NO SCHOOL OR WHERE THE TEACHERS TEACH IRREGULARLY. MiEN REFUGEES IN AMERICA ARE SPONSORING SOME OF THESE CHILDREN. It IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO REACH THE CHILDREN FOR THE LORDi AND THROUGH THEM THEIR FAMILIES.

SEVERE DROUGHT
We had a PROLONGED DRY SPELL THIS YEAR WITH ALMOST NO RAIN NOVEMBER THROUGH June. Wells went dry and city water was unavailable for some time. Praise THE LoRD; our wells DIDN't GO COMPLETELY DRY. ThE RAINS DID COME NEAR THE MID DLE OF July but not as much as usual. Some farmers have planted rice; but most
have been unable to do so. Then; after the rains came the grasshoppers. The
people think this is a bad omen and that the coming year will be very bad.
SATAN ATTACKS
We are experiencing strong attacks by Satan such as there have not been before. Satan is seeking to destroy the Fellowship of Churches in the Chiengkam area. Once
a month the churches meet on a Sunday afternoon for fellowship and encouragement^
and have evangelistic outreach several times during the year. This is for all churches regardless of denomination and stresses the Lcrdship of Christ and love
among the believers.
Another attack is on the Mien (Yao) work, seeking to destroy it and the leaders. The third is an attack on the integrity of leaders - both national and missionaries. THIS BATTLE CAN ONLY BE WON BY PRAYER. Please join us in prayer to turn back the
forces of evil. Also pray for the leaders that they may be encouraged and strength ened IN Christ. May we have the joy of the Lord in our hearts and a love for one ANOTHER. May Christ be glorified.
Rejoicing in the final victory^

STUDENT SPONSORSHIP
In my last LETTER I MENTIONED THE NEED FOR SPONSORS FOR SOME GIRLS (AND BOYSi TOO)
SO THEY CAN CONTINUE IN JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL AND THUS LESSEN THE CHANCE
OF GOING INTO PROSTITUTION. We ENLARGED OUR DORM THIS YEAR SO WE COULD KEEP MORE girls; but many parents don't have the MONEY FOR TUITIONi CLOTHES AND BOOKS. In SOME VILLAGES WORLD VISION PROVIDES TUITION; BOOKS AND CLOTHES FOR SOME CHILDREN;
BUT IN MOST VILLAGES THERE IS NO ASSISTANCE.
Free education is provided in government schools from grades 1-5. Those going on to junior and senior high school must leave their VILLAGES AND ATTEND DISTRICT SCHOOLS. TuITION IS CHARGED AND THEY
MUST BUY BOOKS I SCHOOL UNIFORMS AND FIND THEIR OWN HOUSING AND

Not all children need full support. Sometimes just food money with a bit for inci DENTALS IS ENOUGH. AlSOi HALF SCHOLARSHIPS t^OULD^BE WELCOME. PRAY ABOUT THIS AND SEE IF THE LORD WOULD HAVE YOU BE A FULL OR PARTIAL SPONSOR; OR IF HE WOULD HAVE YOU SHARE IN THE MINISTRY THROUGH PRAYER ALONE.
Your prayers regarding Satan's attacks on,churches and individual leaders are
BEARING FRUIT. PlEASE KEEP PRAYING. Yours in Christ#
