Hello Everyone! My name is Spencer Dangs.

As relatively new Christian, o n the Arizona Mission Team, I questioned my personal ability to share the Gospel with others on the trip. I questioned my own faith, whether I knew what I belie ved in well enough to share with others. I also worried that I would be lost on the Mission, by not being able t o do what was required when the time came. However when we arrived in Phoenix on Friday, we had a speaker come to us and preached a message along the lines of "With God there is no possible way for you to fail in the Mission field." I was n't quite sure what that meant for our team, nor what it meant for me personally at the time. Come Sunday, I was already feeling more and more empowered by the courag e God gave me last night to go door-to-door and talk to strangers and invite them to the church. That morning we practiced our actual evangelism strategies, how to initate it, how to go through with it using either the Wordless Book or "4 Sp riritual Laws" manual. I practiced with Ting and a guy from California, and never even got through mine. We watche d a demonstration between TG and Shannon too, just for a better how to from and "expert." That afternoon as we were abou t to head out, it starts pouring rain, not just pouring rain, but dumping water on our heads. We decided to stick with the door-to-door, except this time we would try to keep as many of our teammates in our big van as possible, and just send out one or two teams at a time. My team was sitting in the back of this big van where the seats had been taken out, so that all there was to sit on were bumpy metal bars or prop yourself against the window. Because of this, our team was rather sore from all the bumps in the road. We decided to step outside to stretch our legs. As soon as I stepped out, I too k a look down the street, and saw a lonesome man in a tanktop and jean cutoffs riding a bike down the street in the pouring r ain. And guess what I did! I waved to this man. As he came closer, I noticed he looked older, around mid 50's, and had a d istinct look of years of pain in his past. He stops on his bike, dismounts and props the stand, he greets us and I respond with enthusiasm. My team invite the man to our church, and after we're done, he asks for the phone number of the chu rch and pulls out his phone. It was an old flip phone, beat up and in poor condition and in pouring rain I was doubt ful it would even turn on. I realized that as the man tried to get his phone to work, then would be a perfect opportunity t o evangelize. Terry, a guy from another team came over and tried to get the phone to work, meanwhile we were left with the ma n, and I went for it. I asked him a series of questions, "where do you think you'll go when yo u die?" "what are you percentage chance of going to Heaven?" "What do you think about Jesus?" I had no idea what the man 's perception of us was, but he was overjoyed to see a bunch of Oriental people, who had accepted Christ. Before, only Caucas ian people had ever tried to evangelize to the man. He thought that Christ was just a white man who died for white people so t hey could be admitted to an all-white Heaven. And this is when I realized this man had just been evangelized to. This man had just heard the good news of salvation. This man who stopped in the pouring rain, next to our gigantic white van, in the middle of the road, with a bunch of Asian people

had just heard the good news. And we told the man about sin, how it was evil, a nd how we can never be in Heaven because of it and that Christ died for him, a full-blooded Navajo man descended from a line of Navajo singers, and for us, full-blooded Chinese people descended from all walks of life, and for everyone's sin so that they may witness the glory of Heaven above and see the joy of salvation! We asked the man if there was anything to pray for him, he told us how h e'd been struggling with alcohol for many years, although he now had been sober for 3 years. He told us his son had died many ye ars ago, shortly after birth. We asked if his wife was with him still, he looked solemnly at us and told us that she had passed awa y 6 years ago. With that, we made a circle and prayed for this man in the middle of the street in pouring rain. Afterwards, I looked up and felt this great overwhelming joy for this man, and before I teared up and bursted out crying I gave this man, Edw in Begay, an hug that I will never forget. We are so blessed to live in the comforting home of the church. My fait h was strengthed through this experience, and I knew that God was with us every word we spoke, and that He touched all of our hearts that day! I was so blessed to go to Arizona with these amazing teammates. Praise God!
