Subject: Biology Theme: Investigating the physiology of living things Topic: 6.0 Nutrition
Objective: Applying the concept of balanced diet Learning Outcomes: At the end of the lesson, students should be able to: Determine the nutrient content in different food samples Moral values: Being thankful to God, practicing healthy living, being cooperative, being honest and accurate in recording and validating data. Educational Emphasis: Science process skills- Observation, Communicating, Experimenting, Measuring and using numbers Manipulative skill- using and handling science apparatus and materials properly Instructional Aids/ materials: Laptop, Liquid-Crystal Display (LCD) projector, freshly prepared orange juice, apple juice, guava juice, DCPIP solution, 0.1% ascorbic acid solution, specimen tubes, 1ml syringe, 5ml syringe with needles, beakers, gauze cloth and knife, record sheet/proposal, white board, marker pen, and pictures of three types of vehicle. Previous Knowledge: 1. Students have basic knowledge about nutrient content in food and balanced diet. References: Azmah Rajion, Gan, W.Y. & Manoharan a/l Subramaniam (2005). Biology form 4. Instructional Activities 1) Teacher greets the students 2) Teacher shows three pictures of different types of vehicle: lorry, car and motorcycle. 3) Teacher asks students with these questions:
-As a human, to keep alive I need to consume food every day. So, how about these three vehicles? What is the food for them to keep alive? (expected answer: oil//diesel) - Which vehicle has the capacity to use and store more oil in their tank? (expected answer: lorry) -can you list down the order of vehicle that can store oil from the most until the least? (expected motorcycle) answer: lorry, car,
