Dinelli Airs Nonsensical, False Attack Ad ALBUQUERQUE, NM Pete Dinelli proved once again that he's too risky

y to be the mayor, with his first ad completely failing to tell the people of Albuquerque who he really is and what he plans to do as mayor. Instead of highlighting his time running the now-notorious Safe City Strike Force that faced a civil rights lawsuit for illegally kicking people from their homes and humiliating the tenants, he used his first ad to launch unsubstantiated attacks at Mayor Berry. "Who is Pete Dinelli? Most candidates use their first ad to highlight their background and vision for the future. But Pete Dinelli would rather launch nonsensical and false attacks on Mayor Berry than talk about his risky record that includes his time as the head of the city's Safe City Strike Force, which he so badly mismanaged that it cost taxpayers $1.7 million in a civil rights lawsuit," said Chris Sanchez, a spokesman for the Mayor Berry campaign. "The people of Albuquerque aren't going to be fooled by this ad and won't take the risk of voting for Pete Dinelli." FACT CHECK DINELLI: "Berry refused to raise the minimum wage even though we voted to increase it." FALSE. Albuquerque residents voted to raise the minimum wage in 2012, and it went into effect. The mayor's office had nothing to do with raising it or not, and Mayor Berry did not stop it from going into effect because it was a voter referendum not a Mayor's initiative. Furthermore, the Mayor's office is enforcing the minimum wage law. DINELLI: "Berry's anti-choice measure threatens women's health." FALSE. The late-term abortion ballot initiative is not Mayor Berry's measure. It was put forward by an independent group. ###
