MDK PC Call Station NEMMS- the ms Neumann Management System

NEMMS is a computer-aided management system for which the configuration of the user-interface is variable. It works in a direct combination with the MDK-system. The operational areas of a customer can be graphically illustrated and accessed in separate sub-areas. The actions are executed by imbedded buttons in the respective graphic, and the handling is mouse-driven. Messages are also displayed according to the area of operation. For example there is a graphical transmission of the status of the sensors. So every demand of the customers concerning the ergonomics of the user-interface can be satisfied. One example for the innovative interface design shows the applications in Switzerland for emergency systems in tunnels. So far the following projects were realised: Gotthard, Seelisberg and the federal road N5

25-W Auxiliary Amplifier for WFA/WFD/WFD-EX/WFA-EX Call Stations

A call station in combination with an auxiliary amplifier and loudspeaker can use the auxiliary loudspeaker as a PA speaker for incoming calls. Only the initial call to the call station is transmitted over the auxiliary loudspeaker. When the call station answers, its internal speaker is automatically used for the rest of the call. After approx. 20 seconds pause in the conversation, the call station returns to using the PA loudspeaker.

Technical Details
IP Rating of Enclosures
As per DIN 40 050 / IEC / VDE 0470 / EN 60529 International standards classify the type of protection an enclosure provides by using a two-digit IP (International Protection) code that indicates the degree of protection the enclosure provides against the penetration of foreign objects, dust and water.
1) A typical IP number for weatherproof enclosures is, for example, IP65 .

1st Digit of Degree of protection against the penetration of 2nd Digit of Degree of protection against water solid foreign objects and hazardous access IP Code IP Code 0 0 No protection No protection 1 Protected against the penetration of large foreign objects with a diameter greater than 50 mm Protected against the penetration of mediumsized foreign objects with a diameter greater than 12 mm Protected against the penetration of small foreign objects with a diameter greater than 2.5 mm Protected against the penetration of tools, wire (particulate foreign objects) with a diameter greater than 1.0 mm Completely protected against access to hazardous voltage carrying parts and internal moving parts. General Information on the Designation of Explosion-Proof Equipment

The designation of electrical equipment and protection systems when put to their intended use in potentially explosive areas is determined according to the requirements of EC Directive 94/9/EC. The following is an example:

II 2G EEx d e ib IIC T4

Explanation: 1. Zones / Equipment Groups / Equipment Categories

There are 2 Equipment Groups: the designation I is assigned to electrical equipment for use in underground mining, the designation II for use in surface industries. The areas in which there is a risk of explosion are divided into Zones according to the likelihood of a potentially explosive atmosphere being present. In each Zone, the proper equipment must be used according to the Equipment Category (area of usage). The current IEC regulation defines the following Zones:

Classification of Hazardous Areas / Equipment Categories / Equipment Groups

Combustible Materials Characteristic for the Explosive Mixture Present continuously or frequently or for long periods Likely to occur in normal operation Not likely to occur in normal operation and if it occurs it will exist only for a short time Present continuously or frequently or for long periods Likely to occur in normal operation Swirled up dust not likely to occur in normal operation and if it occurs it will exist only for a short time Zones Equipment Group (for use in surface industries or underground) II II Equipment Category 1G 2G (also 1G) 3G (also 2G and 1G) 1D 2D (also 1D)

2. Types of Explosion Protection

To enable electrical equipment to be used in areas where there is a risk explosion, various explosion protection techniques must be employed to prevent the equipment from igniting explosive atmospheres. Different techniques are used depending on the application and equipment: exclusion of the explosive atmosphere (o, q, m), purged and pressurized (p), containment of internal explosion (d), special mechanical designs (n, e), limiting electrical energy (ia, ib), as well as other measures (s). Each of these techniques is subject to national and/or international standards and regulations. EEx: Explosion Protection certified according to CENELEC Standard EN 50 Explosion Protection certified according to CENELEC Standard EN 50 corresponds to the relevant IEC standards and stipulates equipment safety measures that guarantee at least the same degree of safety as the European standards. Type of Protection / Technique / CENELEC Standard / IEC Standard

4. Classification into Temperature Classes

Hot surfaces can also ignite gas/air mixtures when the equipments surface temperature reaches the ignition temperature of the potentially explosive atmosphere. To guard against this, all electrical equipment intended for use in a potentially explosive atmosphere is classified according to the maximum surface temperature it will reach in service. Temperature Classes Maximum surface temperature of electrical equipment in C T1 > 450 T2 T3 T4 T5 T6 > 300 to 450 C > 200 to 300 C > 135 to 200 C > 100 to 135 C > 85 to 100 C
