Announcement
International Junior Faculty Research Conference Development of joint research on the assessment of higher-education competencies The International Junior Faculty Research Conference provides an opportunity for outstanding international junior scientists to meet up with selected junior scientists from Germany specialized in research on the assessment of higher-education competencies. The conference is part of a large research initiative funded by the Federal Ministry of Education in Germany and aims at strengthening the international collaboration in this field on the one hand and the support of young researchers on the other hand by bringing together 10 international scientists and 10 Germany scientists at this Conference. Funding for travelling and accommodation is provided upon application (details see below) and conference participants are supposed to develop joint international research projects, funding proposals or scientific papers. The conference will take place in Berlin, Germany, in fall 2014. Details In the five-day meeting, a group of 20 junior scientists will gather for in-depth discussions on research questions, theoretical frameworks, study design, data analysis, results and future research plans regarding competence assessment in higher education. The group, including 10 international scientists and 10 members of the German funding initiative, are supposed to generate joint projects and publications in subgroups. Each of these will be supported by an experienced researcher. The objective of the International Junior Faculty Research Conference is that the participants have developed drafts for transnational funding proposals or papers for highly-regarded international journals at the end of the week, which shall be submitted subsequently. Application International junior scientists (all researchers with a university affiliation are regarded junior scientists who are neither full nor associate professors) and junior scientists from the German funding initiative can apply for the conference either on their own or in teams. Each team has to include at least one international and one German scientist. As the meeting aims at establishing new collaborations or at strengthening existing but loose contacts, no formal cooperation between the team members (joint projects, papers or presentations) should have taken place so far. Dates and Locations The Conference will take place at Humboldt-Universitt zu Berlin (presumably October 6-10, 2014). Funding Travel and accommodation expenses will be reimbursed for all participants. In addition, break-time food and beverages will be provided at the conference. Call for Applications The call for applications will be available in autumn of 2013 on our website http://www.kompetenzen-im-hochschulsektor.de/
